Any chance we'll see Liam Jurrah again?

I saw Liam play a few weeks ago in a Grand Final here in Alice.

I also speak to someone quite close to him most days.

This distance between where he is now in his life and where he needs to get to to be an AFL player again is simply too far.

Should have taken Rockliff instead as he was training with us. The Club decided to take Rockliff in the rookie draft but were gazumped by Brisbane in the PSD.

WTF???!!! i didnt know this. no one has a crystal ball but jeezus hard to think of someone with a string of poor decision making as long as our recruiting department's. perhaps Hitler?

those incharge of our list & recruiting/development, really undervalued 'grunt', & went for razzledazzle, bigtime. one of our longterm faults, liking flashy things over robust.

Seriously C&B?

We've just had the worst period in maybe our history.

We have a clean out, land a capable CEO that helps land one of the coaches of the decade. Have a pretty great trade period landing some talent and addressing our needs.

Yet Liam friggin Jurrah is on your mind?

We don't even need a forward. Let alone an injury prone one that has let us and himself down once (twice, three times..) already.

Let's move on. Enjoy building a team of committed footballers that will drive a better culture and make the most of the opportunities they've been given.

What about Jakovich?

It annoyed me every time I saw this thread, wasn't just you, I think we all need to move on.

I was a touch young to fully enjoy Jaka, but even so, stack up their highlight reels side-by-side and its Jurrah for me.. nothing compared to that roar and hum of excitement when someone floated one in his direction inside 50 (or outside for that matter) you just knew that absolutely anything could happen and it very often did.

The only player we have had to come close to him in terms of raising the excitement levels was the Wizard when he was in full flight.

Jakovich by the length of the straight.

Nothing compares to going to the footy and knowing you have a player who is a good chance of racking up 5+ goals week in and week out.

Easily the most fun player to watch in my time ( 48 years ) and I had mates who barracked for other teams who came to watch Melbourne play just to see Jakovich do his thing.

also we need hard contested footy players to help mold our new culture into a tough hard one, before we pickup many real outside receiver types.

once we've solidified this, then if we pickup any of the silky skilled but mellew yellow ones they'll learn to burrow in under our new strong culture & leadership.

lets let liam work on his life, hopefully he will get it together. good luck Liam.

Yes - sadly the Ox was destined to be perhaps the greatest KPP forward since TGNWS (who I never saw play) - we didn't have any of these in our "glory years" - quick, big, strong, exciting and arrogant on the field. Cut down in his prime.

Jakovich was was far better value than Jurrah. Excitement levels about equal. For one thing he always got a lot of the ball despite his lack of discipline and accountability. 20+ possessions playing out of the goal square was routine for him. With him our forward line was very potent. Jurrah for most only put in solo highlight reel cameos. Was never a forward line heavyweight who could influence games like Jakovich could. I remember what I think was his third game at Moorabbin against the Saints. He kicked 8.7 by three quarter time. Upstaged Lockett and humiliated Danny Frawley. The St Kilda fans were completely shocked and feral. With a better temperament and luck with injuries he could have been a bigger superstar than his brother Glen.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
