Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

A common thread thus far with Roos in his discussion of players and the comments in the articles above is players having clearly defined set roles and positions. Roos noted that that is what Watts needed (that's a mouthful!)'. McDonald said Roos talked to him about his role and what position he would play and Grimes said he discussed with Roos about what the new coach expects from him from next year.

"I really need and want to get a set position, where I feel like I play my best position," Grimes said.
"I love to have the flexibility in my game, but I feel I'd like to really nail down a No. 1 position."
I'd love to know by the by where Grimes sees his best position. I suspect Roos will play him at half back flank.

Grimes is going to HBF for sure. McDonald won't move from CHB. The interesting one is Watts. I can't see Roos weakening the midfield running power by letting Watts sit in a forward pocket and kick a couple of goals on the lead each week. Not if Clark, Hogan and Dawes are around. Jacky boy is going to have to get running, chasing, tackling into is game in some role. Be it high half forward, wing or half back. Maybe all 3.

I agree with you. Unless there is a few injuries up on the forward line, or a brief structure change during a game, "Killa' better invest in some good running boots.

Grimes is not strong enough for the midfiled Half back flank is his best

Anyone else hoping Roos gets Watts playing a Goodes-ish sort of a role? (Minus the spells in the ruck, of course.)

Hoping... I'm hoping for a 20mill Tatts win too but not sure it will happen. He hasn't the desire for body contact to play that role yet. Play him fwd and see how he goes.

I think the thing about Roosy is that he is an honest to god good bloke, no spin on things like with Neeld, knows it will be hard but is clearly up for the challenge and makes no secret of the fact he rates the players.

some wont like Roosy, most will like him.

The ones that like him will most likely excel under him and become really great players.

if Colin stays i really appreciate his resiliency to have played with so many coaches and it will show if he really is a great team player.

This could potentially make Colin

I hope Roosy has a serious-chat-table and just a casual-chat-table for these sorts of meetings so the players know what they're in for.

If I take the players comments at face value, I hope Roos can provide each player and the group with the self belief, hope and spirit that has been shredded over the past 2-3 years.

The key ingredients for sure.

Tom Mcdonald will become our Ted Richards.

Roos will love him and develop him into a great footballer.

Jeepers. There's a heap of man love going around this place lately. So different to the last few years. Wonder how Biff is handling all this!

It's one way traffic at the Lions, and it aint coming in. All those deluded players who re-signed before Voss's sacking must be spewing.

Col may not be the brightest spark at the club, but he's not that stupid.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
