I'd do pick 2. He is a former #1 pick with a few years in the system.

He will improve.

He is ready to go.

We don't have time to wait around for any more 18 year olds to 1) develop physically to AFL standard and 2) see if they are the next 'once in a generation player'

I can live with it. At least we will know (barring injury) that he would be deserving of a spot in round 1 2014.

This same logic holds true for any one that Roos and the coaching panel deem appropriate for a trade of this nature.

Just out of curiosity, has there been word that he wants to come home or Gold Coast are looking at trading him? Or is this just a random thread of 1 of the many players we could throw pick 2 at?

It was mooted in an Inside Football article a month or so ago that we'd had chats with the Suns regarding Watts and pick 2 for Swallow. It all stems from that and there's been nothing more.

Home is WA and they are not looking at trading him, but could do the right deal.

Kids going to be a superstar, I have absolutely no doubt about that, if he wants more opportunity and to be closer to his brother pick 2 would be on it's way to the gold coast imo.

I remember reading an article a while ago which suggested he had asked to be traded to North to be with his brother.

The Suns didn't like the offer and he re-signed.

Even though Melbourne wasn't his original choice it still means he gets to come home, and you'd think if he still wanted to be traded the Suns would settle for pick 2. But as BH said there has been nothing more since the Inside Football article.

Only an idiot wouldn't give pick 2 for Swallow

Hes had two seasons playing and training alongside the greatest midfielder of all time. His development has been done, and hes ready to fire big time.

Its a no brainer for the MFC

I desperately hope there is truth to this rumour and we do get Swallow.

Swallow is exactly what our club needs.

This kid underachieved this year, but he is going to be a gun.

Big bodied midfielder who can kick a goal.

I'd give up pick 2 in a heart beat for Swallow, his body alone is 4-5 years ahead of Aish or Kellys.

Swallow will be a player, we should chase him.

Jones, Swallow and Viney would be a good midfield in 2014.

Would be a something to work with and throw in a fully fit forward line and we should improve rapidly.

are, but would you trade Howe for Swallow? < Surely a joke?

& then use P2 on Aish, or for a Sloane? or a Docherty + P7 ?

Yes but I am confident that the three other Clubs in the hypothetical wouldn't!

Coming home in the same sense that Mitch Clark came home, I guess, given that both grew up in WA.

Its all over the net that he does want to come home but just find it hard to believe gold coast would want more picks. They've had a few....

still think Sloane is more likely.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
