Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It has been at least twenty years (since Barrasi) since I have seen the sort of excitement amongst Demon supporters that I experienced yesterday.

Lunch with Demon mates numerous phone calls excited talk everywhere.

How good is it The Demons will become a powerhouse and will be feared I now believe it!

Even the miserable season has faded away never to be spoken about again.

A Brand New Day.

The rise has not started...The right fouundations are being put in place.

Do not get ahead of yourself...The planning must be done slowly and correctly.

The assistant coaching roles are critical...Roos is coming in cold...He must choose very carefully who he works with & who he grooms for Senior coaaching.

And people wonder why we all get shitty because its topics like this that make people angry.

We are still so far behind its gonna take a couple of years. Yes I am very confident we re now in the right direction now we have professionals running the club instead of teddy bears.

Will be still a lot more pain before success.

I don't want to [censored] on anyone's parade in what is a rare time for Demon supporters to be happy, but spot on WYL. This is a step. An important one no doubt, but merely a step.

There is no quick fix to turning it around, and the fact we've been poor for the better part of a decade doesn't change that. It's a bloody hard slog to rebuild a football club, and it would seem Roos and Jackson know what they're in for. Talks of being a powerhouse are premature, to say the absolute least.

Too many false dawns in the past. I like the appointment of Roos a lot. But let's be realistic and not get ahead of ourselves.

True but we have not lost a game in 2014 as yet.

So we can all dream and hope for the best.

God only knows we need it.

Oh by the way, Moon don't you have a wedding to plan for?

Surely we can get 'optimistic' without getting 'ahead of ourselves'.

A top coach will attract 'good' and 'proven' assistants. Hopefully even a successful mid-field coach.

A top coach will persuade players who might be looking elsewhere to stay.

Paul Roos has the skill to develop 'marginal' players, of which we have many.

Paul Roos's appointment is likely to interest free agents or out of contract players from other clubs. Compare this with recent years where these players have laughed at us and wouldn't contemplate joining us, unless paid huge money.

Paul Roos' appointment will encourage members to renew and others, including past members to join.

It will be a catalyst for attracting new sponsors.

The media will take a positive interest in us, instead of treating us as a joke.

While I'm confident about a big on-field improvement, I'm not getting a head of myself.

how can we say that!

we have been one possibly the most unsuccessful and continually disappointing team in the past 7-10 years.

So maybe we should keep a lid on it

Im mostly concerned about what will become of the blazers and bugler

sold to the bombers

the blazers will be washed and dyed black

the bugler, will be given a life membership of dons and play at all of their district league games

What has happened in the past 24 hours is a good insight into human psychology ( not to mention the psychology of the nuts who frequent this site). As soon as the pressure let up and a bit of optimism crept in, everyone on this forum went gangbusters and decided to get on the front foot about everything from clash strips to the priority pick. That is not how you turn a club around.

I have great optimism don't worry. I have wanted Paul Roos all along. Even after Rhino called me a wingnut for it back in May.

We got our man ...cool. Actually we got 2. PJ is the rock in all this.

All i am saying is that we have done nothing yet.

Let me see the assistants who apply for the gig first.

Bit like a soufflé at the moment; on the rise but if someone slams the door it will sink just as quickly.

I have every faith in what's going on at the moment but want to see how we draft before I start getting too excited. Thankfully no more money players that can't play.

The excitement and optimism are fantastic, and something we should all enjoy right now! However we must not lose sight of the fact that it will be a hard slog over rough terrain to get to where we want to be. The most important thing to me is that we can now be very confident that we are on the right track, and not lost in some bloody wilderness with no map, no compass no GPS and no friggin' idea whether the sun rises in the east or west.

I am stoked we have employed a good coach, but as we are a long way from showing we are on the rise. I reckon its a bit premature as, at this point, PR has sold us hope. When he provides us with some success then i think we can start gloating. I just don't want it to be another false dawn.

Read the thread title again and tell me that any other supporter wouldn't wet themselves laughing at that suggestion! To win back respect, we first must win more games. Simple. Anything else is getting ahead of ourselves.

Edit: The thread title has changed since the above was written.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
