And that means?

It was reported two hours beforehand.

Can't believe I had to explain that.

So with the announcement of Simpson to West Coast's senior position our known options are:

Leigh Tudor

Stuart Dew

Peter Sumich

Brett Kirk

Alan Richardson(?)

What do we think?

Not that I know any inside info, but I reckon it will be Dew. Roosy would not have gone into this without knowing exactly who his support staff would be. I would not be surprised if this was marked from well out.

I don't discount the albeit slim possibility that the Swans could still do an about-face and release Dew from his contract.

Bassett has been interviewed by Essendon and Richmond, according to the HS, for assistant positions.

Doesn't mention us at all.

I don't think we'd be aiming for a bloke with no connections to anyone in the footy dept (bar maybe Viney?) who hasn't been an assistant coach at AFL level yet.

Gutted that Simpsons over here with the eagles.... was my pick for out next coach... What's the go with Tudor? He's left the swans but haven't heard much recently about where he's going next year if its not to us.

All they have to do if they want Dew is to name him and say he will take over at the end of his Swans contract, he will be released from said contract the next day.

If they still keep him after we name him (if we do of course) then he should take two folders to each meeting, one with the swans logo and one with the MFC on it :)

Great call! And surely a guarantee of the head coaching position is better than just being an assistant? Sort of like a full house beating 3 of a kind!

Or three of a kind beating two pairs even.

I recon it is going to be Dew and have absolutley no doubt that if Dew is the prefered option for Roos then PJ will make it happen and ther is nothiing Sydney will be able to do about it. He is loke a dog with a bone once he makes a decision.

I think you are right, Dew is our man.

IMO they're biding their time and not discussing Dew with the Swans any further, especially during trade period as it may somehow affect our trades, possibly even trades with other clubs (3 way trades etc).

Then after it's finished....BANG!

They might be prepared to wait for Dew which will be good for us. We sign Dew for 2015, then Roos coaches his third year in 2016 before the handover, we get 3 years out of Roos.

I am hoping Roos will be the face of the club for some years yet. Even if he isn't coach.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
