26 years ago almost to the day

Balmy Spring weather , near record crowd and I witnessed one of the greatest wins in the History of the MFC

Some recollections

Gary Lyon breaking leg early

Brett Lovett, playing a sensational game

Earl Spalding, marking everything that came his way at CHB

Graeme Yeats, controlling the wing

Danny Hughes, the Trojan up back

Brett Bailey, typical workmanlike performance

Jim Stynes , winning the ruck

Brian Wilson, one of the architects of this great win.

Ricky Jackson, Lively as always

Warren Dean. ah what could have been, a rare talent

Sean Wight, Brilliant game in defense!

David Williams "Has marked left wing , Right Wing and left Wing in a matter of minutes "Tim Lane"

Robert Flower, Held well early, then cutting lose and kicking three "Brilliant Goals" to win us the game! Including a freak mark in the last Q

The rooms afterwards were "Electric' and not to mention the after match which was sensational!

Just for melancholy I will put the second half replay CH2 Replay ( which I still have, on for Fathers' day and
Bask in the glory I still feel to this day to have been, a very proud Demon Supporter!

How would one go about getting his hands on a copy of that?

- Standing in the outer on that day,

- the cheer that went up in the crowd when the Hawks beat the Cats

- the players stopped because they thought the siren had gone

- the euphoria of everyone when we won

- being hugged by a complete stranger,

A day that is embedded in my memory forever.

Listening on the radio that day in the kitchen at 11 years of age with my old man.

Wasnt really old enough to have invested emotionally in the club, but remember jumping around with my balloon (indoor footy) wearing my royal blue Demons jumper (number 2 on the back) when we won. A memorable day of my childhood...football wise.

Will never forget the roar from frenzied Dees fans in the packed Western Oval outer when , with our game in the bag , the Hawks hit the front at the cattery . It was so loud , all players stopped thinking the siren must have sounded !

Still my greatest memory as a Dees fan that day, I was 15 at the time and my youngest boy is now 6, he has stayed loyal while the older brother has headed to the filth. I can't wait to see the 6 year olds face the day the Dees make the finals for the first time in his life. What I would give for the joy I felt on that day again.

One thing I have never forgotten as a Dees fan was a defeat at the cattery in either 08 or 09 and when the Cats were singing the song after the game the cameras panned around their circle and James Kelly was pretending to be asleep on a team mates shoulder. I know they have every right to be arrogant but I have wanted our boys to towel him up from that day on. I hope he plays long enough to see the tables turned

I was an 11 year old who went with his old man. First and only time I went to the western oval. Unbelievable game, but what I remember as a kid was the doggies supporter with BO blocking my view all day!!

I still remember Drew Morphett's ABC commentary from that afternoon..."Stretch who can run like a gazelle and deliver the ball beautifully...not without a chance of scoring...FLOWER!"

Here's some highlights from that brilliant day: http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=relmfu&v=Ejvjb2zQ3ps

Neither will I, I was 1 years old.

I pooped my pants twice that day and vomited on Mun's rug. Great day, will never forget.

GAMEDAY: Rd 11 vs St. Kilda

It's Game Day and after 2 losses on the trot the Dees must win against the Saints today at the MCG to keep in touch with the Top 4. A loss today will see them drop out of the Top 8 for the first time since 2020.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

POSTGAME: Rd 10 vs West Coast

Many warned that this was a danger game and the Demons were totally outclassed all game by a young Eagles team at Optus Stadium in Perth as they were defeated by 35 points.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.
