Terrific we can replace a soft tall with a soft medium.

Yarran is over rated and brings little to the table except a poor attitude.

If we are looking to change the culture for the positive give him a wide berth.

Want to hear that the club is developing a bit of mongrel...........

1st evidence is that Watts is out the door.......

And that we traded him for 5 first round draft picks rather than, say, pick 122, which is our usual operating procedure for players that we burnt high draft picks on.

At the end of six long years do I detect a note of cynicism there RB? Edited by old dee

Bartlett is playing a certain line and it has quietly but powerfully emerged in all his statements so far. He wants the running of the club and the administration to fade into the background and to pour all the attention and energy into the football department/players. In light of this, I reckon he is going to play his cards close to his chest on everything he does in preparation for 2014. Apart from the coaching announcement when it comes, the other board decisions and management reshuffles will be made public in small media releases, and short radio interviews.

We have been so poor in so many ways he is gathering a new group of people around himself and PJ, and they will do a lot of foundational, culture changing work away from media, away from the players, and even away from us supporters. The only exception is the AGM which could be a bit fiery.

I like this approach. Let the media focus on Essendon, the finals, Buddy going to GWS or Daisy Thomas etc... I am not buying in just yet - we haven't even seen who the coach will be for 2014 - but I like this strong but quiet approach to institutional change.

He was asked if he had been in contact with Roos about the job. His reply was that there was a committee in place to conduct the questioning and decisioning and that he would leave it to them to handle the process and come up with a recommendation.

Ok, now I'll move away from what he said and give my opinion (which is worth as much as anyone wants to make it worth). He didn't specifically say that he had no contact, I got the impression that he probably has spoken to Roos, which would make sense. I'd imagine that both parties would at some stage want to get together for a chat, even if only informally, to get an understanding of each other.

He's obviously very intelligent, I also like the fact that he has a footballing background and understands the dressing room mechanics. I'm hoping that what he wants to achieve will take place, only time will tell.

He did make it VERY clear that we would be employing an experienced coach, so at least Burns and the rest know they won't be considered.

Thank god. I get the feeling that Simpson's and Burns' managers/lackeys/mates had been in Hutchy's and Damo's ears and wanted them to pump up those twos' tyres. Thank god we haven't yet again listened to the media and mindlessly reacted.

I guess so much for Hutchy's awesome 'Adam Simpson will be coaching Melbourne' line. Bloke is a fat slob and a grub (or so I have heard second hand from a well renowned ex Melbourne player who does a little bit of journalism).

So you don't like him CBF?

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form
