A good speech, we need to back it up now. When was the last time we had a truly functioning board with our club being in a successful space? We are facing an uphill battle to get this club on level ground, many have tried to turn us around pretty much all have failed.

I like everything he said, he sounds like he's up for a fight. Good luck to him.

Efffing oath prez, I love it, now go out and DO, for all of us. Our beloved Demons r so poor i've found it really hard to follow them and believe me, i luv the MFC.

Mongrel? He'll find plenty at the Lost Dogs Home, but not much at MFC.

... wheres that, down around North Melbourne isn't it? get down & adopt a mongrel.

ziebell, cunnington, great scott, who could we get?

A good start would be

Jackie boy in the room this morning with PJ and New Pres

"Hi Jack Come in sit down

Thanks for making this so easy for me Jack really apprecciate it

We will not be discussing your contract until after the season OK?

In that time you will play for Casey

We need to be sure that you are a good fit for our team going forward

I' m sure you understand that the party is over and only players who demonstrate that they want to play for the Dees will be offered contracts

Great thanks for stopping by See you at the end of the season"

I wasn't overly impressed with the speech. didnt find it inspirational.

Saying that, actions speak louder than words.

Let's see if he is the man to salvage this sinking ship.

Spot on. He needs to do this today.

Cruel but fair. Put in Jack & you shall be rewarded.

Look at the Dogs. They could have pulled up stumps weeks ago. But it is the opposite.

The MFC has pulled up stumps every year after round one for so long now. It is just not acceptable on any level.

To be honest, saying the culture is soft is kind of like saying the earth is round and the sky is blue.

One thing I did like was that his aim was to make sure the administration faded into the background so that we can focus on what is going on on the park.

Besides that, what did they serve for the pre-match lunch? He spent a lot of his time licking his lips and drinking water!

Sounds all good and heard it all before - its what a lot of us have been saying for years. Building a winning culture is easy to say and very hard to do. I am not sure what expertise he has in this area - let's hope he has experience in the business world on changing culture. If he doesn't then bring in an expert consultant and let's do it properly. Only this time let's act on the consultant's report!

Hogan, Viney, Terlich, Clisby, Kent have all showed a bit of mongrel and also hardness at the ball so far. Matt Jones and Toumpas are more run and carry outside types for balance so that's ok.

Getting Jason Taylor and putting Todd Viney in around him in the recruiting department may have been the best move we've made since about 2004. If you read the Burgan articles about our draft profile I believe competitiveness is one of their 4 main criteria. It's one that was badly overlooked by Barry Prendergast.

FFS!! You are a hard plick to please. What would you have instead? Dottery old men from inside the MCC? Bartlett has been given the nod for a reason because he is not a past Demon and he is not aligned with our sad and sorry bunch who have stuffed this club for more than fifty years.

We now have fresh blood who by all accounts have the mettle to belt the day lights out of a stinking culture. By the way FWIW our bad culture also is alive and well amongst some supporters. It's time for all supporters to get some mongrel as well.

As for Bartlett it was his first address, what did you want?

To say a actions speak louder than words after his first week in the job shows very little intellects from some supporters. Get a grip FFS

He also talked of his MFC Darwin fishing trips and hanging out with Trotts. Not to mention his business breakfast he sponsored. He is from within the club and corporate society that sometimes get blamed for MFC's failures but also coming from a fresh outlook. He hasn't been gifted in to that bunch due to connections he's legitimately supported the club and I'm sure some of his friends have been there along the way (He mentioned Trotter advising him to join the board) but I'm hoping he brings a fresh set of eyes and isn't tainted by affiliations to different power bases.

I liked his stance on using our well connected supporters to help Melbourne attractive to players. It was positive and isn't something to shy away from. We all know Carlton, Coll and Hawthorn in particular are never silent on that issue.

He from East Perth so besides the Host Club free run they had from the Eagle which resulted in three Grand Final wins in a row, they are not use to actually winning.

Otherwise great speech, although I heard so many great speech from other MFC Presidents and Coaches in the past.

I thought I was the only one who thought this. I found it rather flat, too self indulgent and way too long,

Agree with your post. Actions speak louder than words and we have heard lots of talk the last several years.

No it doesn't. It is just a truthful reflection of our position and what has been said so many times in the past.

It is not knocking Glen, it is saying many have said similar before and most of us would simply like to see it carried out in preference to being spoken about.

I hope he is a great leader for us and brings success, we will see.

just reading the last few posts of this thread makes me realise how divided we are, & how we work against one another.

this divided club really fff'ed, some defending the new Pres, & some deriding him after his maiden speech..

Fair f'n Dinkum... its like a pissing competition between the boys colleges, saying mines higher,,, NO mine is, & its yellower... Big f'n deal... grow up.

If we're to get this club back up & running, it'll take all factions to work together.
