Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

While Essendon coach James Hird, in a club video message, is labelling Ryder as a “required player”....

For the good of the game, when is Essendon going to label Hird as not a required coach?

I would say as soon as the lawyers work out how to sack him without paying out his massive contract.

Perhaps they need to send him back to France for next year, as non coaching coach.

It seems that the Bummers will be stuck with him at least until mid November, ie into preseason, then will have to make a decision whether to stick by him, with inevitable friction within the playing list from those who hate him for what he has done, or sack him, with inevitable friction within the playing list from those who worship the ground upon which he walks and want him to stay.

Let him draw it out that little bit longer. The schism will only enlarge.

They will have more and more trouble finding a replacement the longer the narcissist prevaricates.

Sounds good to me.

Interesting that it now seems like the "delay until we've turned the list over" strategy is now biting them on the arse.

Sorry to be an English teacher but I'd say the little narcissist is procrastinating rather than prevaricating, though he's doing a fair bit of that too.

Hird just can't help playing funny buggers can he.

Hird and ASADA at odds over appeal date

""Hird has amended his appeal in recent days, having decided against arguing Middleton's ruling that ASADA's interim report given to the AFL last year "was for a proper purpose and within power".

Instead, he is only going to focus on "the lawfulness of the joint investigation, questions of statutory construction and ultra vires". ""

How [censored] up is he? Can't even decide what his true beef is. Looks like he will fight for any incidental "principle" he can find.

Yes he is a DH but you got to love him for that unless you are a MessyDrug supporter.

Perhaps I should have said prevaricates and procrastinates, for completeness.

What an epic breach of duty of care. Criminal negligence comes to mind. And they still cant tell the players what they took!! Unbelievable.

"He still doesnt know for certain what was injected into his body two years ago and only in recent weeks did Harlan born a year ago get the all-clear in terms of his long-term health."

That is the most horrible thing ive read about this. It makes me want to vomit.

Most Posters in this thread have strong Passion against the Club approved supplements program that was operated by MessyDrugs in 2011 and 2012.

Absolutely.

But even if the injections turn out to be 'safe', Essendon will always fear some mysterious health problem arises which people will attribute to the supplements program even though the problem was caused by some other unknown thing. This will be especially true if they don't fess up to what was injected. Sooner or later someone associated with that club will think of the long-term interests of the club rather than their own backsides and sort this. (I've given up them thinking of the players' interests a while back.)

Poor guy - I really feel for what the club have put Patty and his family through. Will be good to see him at PA next year at a good well ran stable club.

Looking forward to worksafe releasing their findings where you'd hope to see criminal charges levelled at senior football personnel and board members. I think the player bans may become the side story to a bigger scandal when it is revealed the extent that the club put its players at risk.

if i were Ryder and my club had caused me pain and suffering - even just through stress - and they still couldnt tell me exactly what they gave me - id be suing them for all they were worth.

Not sure if this has been raised before, but can the golden-hairbrained boy be issued with a SCN (in a similar vein to Dank)? If so then maybe this is the missing piece in the push to render Turd's contract null and void and for a massive payout to be avoided.

To me, if we are serious about drugs in sport, then this is only the beginning not the end of this saga. There should be much more in the way of actions to be taken (SCN to Hird, SCN to Reid (and maybe Thompson), Team sanction against EFC, Duty of care of Management & Directors, Workplace H&S)

Will it be the baby bombers all over again ?

Essendon reserves could line up for the Bombers if the "34" are sidelined for some time.

That seems reasonable to me. They take their cop and move on. I think it would only work if there was a clear out of the vermin from the non-players side of things but alas , only time will tell

Still much water to pass under bridges here I suspect

pinched off of fox-footy ( Ralph )

Possible line up

ESSENDON PLAYERS NOT TOUCHED BY THE SUPPLEMENTS PROGRAM

B: Kurt Aylett, Sean Gregory, Will Hams

HB: Lachie Dalgleish, Ariel Steinberg, Elliott Kavanagh

C: Dylan van Unen, Zac Merrett, Shaun Edwards

HF: Martin Gleeson, Patrick Ambrose, Orazio Fantasia

F: Nick Kommer, Joe Daniher, Paul Chapman

R: Fraser Thurlow, Brendon Goddard, David Zaharakis,

Inter: Johnny Rayner, Conor McKenna, Jason Ashby, Jason Winderlich

* Most players assembled from past two trade, free agency and draft periods

* Essendon is chasing Gold Coast ruckman Daniel Gorringe and Port Adelaide backman Cam O’Shea.

* Elliott Kavanagh and Jason Winderlich have requested trades

CURRENT PICKS IN THIS YEAR’S DRAFT

Have pick No.21 as part of AFL penalties

Then picks 53, 71, 89

And the arrogant merde still has the gall to say that Ryder is a required player - OMG, Jacques, do you really think he would put his body (further) on the line for YOU???

Remains in total denial

Absolutely despicable the way that they have managed Ryder potentially forcing him to sit out or retire just because they can't once again get their own cheating way.

hmmm this could really blow into a $IItstorm if any player and their partner who was involved in their supplements program had anything less than a perfect child

There will never be another perfect child - the last one was born 4 February 1973, apparently, in Canberra, son of Allan and Margaret Hird.

I think Charters program back in the late 1990's-2000 probably fried Hirds brain. Wouldn't that be ironic?

it was always going to get to this. Essendon should have kept records for this purpose.

Hell awaits this club...

As I posted a bit earlier, even if the drugs are in fact safe, all it will take for one unusual disease to hit a player or their child in the next 20 years and fingers will be pointing regardless.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
