2 years? Why do we bother with such short contracts.

Player agents might be another reason. The more often contracts come up for renegotiation the more opportunity there is for larger contracts to be agreed to at a later date. I would have thought this is very normal for a young developing ruckman.

Yeah just like Aaron Davey, lets put em all on 4yr deals.

Good news, just need Watts and Sylvia to re-sign, Frawley and Hogan to extend and Daisy wouldn't be a bad signature either along with soem decent young Vic mids wishing to return to Victoria from interstate

Great stuff.

Watts next, and a Frawley extension please!

DA Watts is possible but forget Frawley.

Why would he commit at this stage?

He has a year to run, over the next year he will get to see who is the new President, Coach and if we look like winning more than a few games.

He would be mad IMO to re sign now.

There is always the need for security Old Dee, we have the coin and Frawley knows he is just one serious injury away from an end to his career. It works both ways

Excuse me for saying this PSD but you are dreaming with all but Watts.

Frawley and Hogan get to see if we are more than a basket case in 2014, in Hogan's case he might be worth three times his current rate by the end of 2014.

Sylvia will wait till the trading period, why wouldn't you?

Daisy will IMO be at GWS or the Pies in 2014

Dont want to upset you deeflog but he will have the same size years as the rest of us.

No olympics coming up so probably just the standard 365 days.

In Frawley's case PSD I think he is more about being with a team that wins games, IMO that is what spins his wheels.

Every statement he has made over the last two years is about winning.

I think that with free agency changes and GWS with money to burn the whole player movement situation has changed dramatically.

For the clubs down the list the players will wait longer to weigh up there options, there will IMO be more and more players waiting till seasons end to decide their future.

I can see PSD's point. There are indeed numerous valid pov regarding all of this and as would be the norm they are all dependent upon 'this' or 'that'.

I do find it hard to go past OD's perspective regarding how our current state of affairs which seems akin to some sort of morphing form a state of disarray to organised ( if not actually resplendent ) , might affect how players will view the contract table.

I think both Max and the Club are practising sensible regard for each other here. If Hogan or Frawley, I ( like OD suggests ) might be a little more coy to being hasty with pen.

It ought to be much more like plain sailing once our Board, our FD and Coaching appointments are all set . Not much to take into consideration as a potential signee reall is there !!

The post Old Dee was very much tongue in cheek, especially re Daisy, I have heard Hogan is happy with certain aspects but obvioulsy there are others which are of concern and very much see what happens in the next two years.

I don't think I'm dreaming about Frawley he and Sylvia would very much be a wait and see who the new coach & FD are IMO.

Sorry PSD I missed it.

I having been saying one day for 48 years I am running out of them.

In 2007 I thought we would be playing finals by now.

We are in some areas as far away as 2007

Old Dee in 1986 I was 14 and thought I would never see the Dees playing finals and halfway through 87 I saw nothing to change my youthful view. That is one of the other things which gives me faith, hope and probably dilusion.

That is bloody good news, he's one guy who could have got a big contract somewhere else. He also obviously backs himself to improve again in those two years to get an even bigger contract.

Woohoo!

There is probably not a dees supporter on this earth that does not have a dose of that PSD.

Funny I am much more calm about this year than last as I am getting exactly what I though before the season started.

I think I have also accept our fate.

I have a number of friends who support other teams, they dont even raise the MFC anymore, I guess there is no fun in kicking a dieing dog.

Maybe thats all Gawn wanted to sign for. In 2 years time he would hope he could sign a much improved deal.

He said himself he hoped for 3 or 4, but with 2 knee constructions and not 1 preseason under his belt, he was happy with 2 and hopes his body stays good.

Watts stated that his agent was o/s on a break and on his return he thought his contract would get sorted. I seem to remember hearing a similar thing about Hogan who has the same agent as Jack Martin who has extended with Gold Coast and was the other U17 signed at the same time as Hogan.

Getting into a gym would be nice, but Maxy also needs to run around the block a few times to get his endurance up. He is absolutely spent halfway through a game playing as a main ruckman.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
