Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What's with all the Tapscott love?

The guys had numerous games this year and struggles to get a kick.

Leave him at Casey he is reasonably effective there.

Agree 'old dee', his form at Casey has not been that good apart from the weekend where he kicked a couple. Make him earn a spot with continued good performances, last time he was down for a week kicked 5 or 6 and came straight back in for no result.

Has had a consistent month. Has yet to play under Neil Craig. Need to find out if he's up to it or not before the end of the season.

Think it's more curiosity than love.

He is a big strong body and a hard hitter.

He has good attributes, you need consecutive games to get into the swing of things, cant throw him in and out and expect much.

a strong body might be handy against north.

In: Spencer, Pedersen, someone from Casey who is showing a bit (Tapscott? Strauss?)

Out: Gawn, Garland (inj), Toumpas

Gawn looks like he needs a spell at Casey, seems to have been run ragged the last few weeks. Swap for Spencer (would also be good to get another look at Spencer).

Pedersen for Garland to help cover North's talls. Pedersen to play Garland's third tall spot, running off half-back where he can. Try to play him as closely to his role at Casey as we can.

The last one is 50/50, but Toumpas' game really was atrocious, and if there is someone at Casey who is in good enough form, maybe Toumpas could go back for a week or two to get his confidence back. Requires a Casey player to be in form, which isn't necessarily an option.

I would like to see tapscott, Strauss and Davis get a few consecutive games this season (definitely think Strauss deserves more than 1-2 games to adapt to AFL considering he has been very good at vfl this year).

As for the outs: I think Toumpas, Kent and possibly matt Jones could do with a rest (and vfl stint for first 2).

Not wanting to make to many changes (Byrnes and Davey are on thin ice)

Out: Toumpas, Kent (assuming no injuries)

In: Strauss, Tappy (Tappy probably doesn't deserve it that much but I really want him to find his feet)

Body strength amounts to nil if you don't get the ball.

Look at his statts they are poor at AFL level and he does not dominate at Casey either.

He is not AFL standard unfortunately.

Gee OD, we are agreeing more and more, must be something in the water, not quire sure what everybody sees in Tapscott, with his size, strength and kicking ability every time he appears at AFL level I am expecting more than he actually delivers......like everybody else when he was drafted thought he was Chapmanesque, then I thought he could be our Dustin Martin, doesn't seem to be able to put it together......looks a million dollars at training, but as you know I am regular Casey watcher and he leaves me underwhelmed there as well

Not sure which one of us should be the most worried Saty!

Bach to Tapscott.

Unfortunately I think we are looking at another poor recruiting decision.

Not sure it was recruiting mistake, watched him in the U18's at Etihad, blasting long accurate kicks all around the ground, could see why we were interested, just doesn't seem to have come on, i liken him to Bate now, really good attributes but a bit of an in between player, can't lock one role down

We have to breed them in, it's the only way!

Cheers mate.

Great news mate, I think you'll have to spend a bit less time on Demonland if the little taccer is going to have a father :) .

I thought the Dees would take Dom Barry back to his hometown Darwin last week and was wrong, so I'm sure the following logic is out, but here goes.

1) Even though Craigy does not seem to like making many changes, the trip to Darwin is traditionally draining and means some players may not come up as well as normal.

2) We are playing North, who in recent times beat us up with their hard tackling, so I reckon we will need a couple of tougher bodies and less outside runners this week.

3) If Garland is out, then whilst I like the logic of giving Davis a chance so we know for sure if he should be delisted or not, I imagine Pedersen would have to play against his old side.

4) Gawn has just signed a new contract - you would think that means he can't be dropped this week, so unless Fitzy is injured, then Spencer has to sit out again.

So, based on all that:

Out: Garland (inj), Toumpas, Kent (both youngsters need to go back to VFL and win a heap of football before returning for last few rounds of season).

In: Pedersen, McKenzie, Tapscott

Tapscott averages 1.8 tackles a game, with your logic we would be better bringing Jetta in who averages 4 a game

We are all clever with hindsight Saty I was just trying to make the point which I think you agree with that he has not developed.

If they cannot cut it at AFL level then IMO it is a failed Selection.

I think people like the look of Tapscott and want him to succeed unfortunately this colours their view.

I know I have done it with other players,

they similar let desire get in the way of judging the actual results which in Tapscott's case are poor.

Yes Jetta before him for me too

Assuming Garlo out and Fitz ok.

In Pedo (need to cover Petrie, Black and Tarrant), Tapscott, Spencer

Out Garland, Kent, Gawn

Why are you omitting Gawn, BRFE?

With Goldstein struggling to carry the load I think it's a good opportunity for Max to get a few more kicks around the ground.

Anyone happy with Blease's game?

Lightning fast, wow factor, but.......

I think he should play, but doesn't get back defensively enough.

James Strauss must play. I really like him, time for the new coach to make a call on this fella.

Blease should take up athletics. Outside of 2-4 sprints per game we dont see much. Kid needs to learn to become an accumilator, take some grabs and an occasional clearance or contested ball win.

In: Tappy and Taggert

Out: Toump and Garland

As per the dees website:

Rory Taggert: Rory was one player who was not overly impacted by the conditions and his effectiveness by foot was a real positive. He also backed himself more. He was a solid performer after a dominant display in the Development League game the week prior.

Luke Tapscott: Luke was typically combative and hit the packs hard all day. He laid six strong tackles, had 15 disposals and kicked two goals for the game.

For the love of god give Taggert a go under Craig and lets see what Tappy can do under a proper coach.

I'm not a Casey watcher, but by the reports Taggert is a way off, and the fact that he played in the development league two weeks ago supports that. This is not the under 12s, you don't just give "give players a go". That go has to be earned.

Can I just ask, what is it that you like about Strauss?

I can't see much at all that gets me excited or even begin to think that he'll make it. Sure he is a good kick but doesn't seem to have much else going for him and really struggles to find the ball. Even before the broken leg he wasn't getting enough of it to impress and he is a barely adequate shut-down defender. To me he is becoming a list clogger and will be gone when his contract is up.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
