At the start of next year, Adelaide midfielder Scott Thompson who is a restricted free agent in 2013 will be 31 years of age.

Is it too romantic a notion to think that we might be able to entice him back to the fold on a 2 year contract after so many years to help in the regeneration of our midfield?

If he can't get a contract at the crows or anything more than 1 year then why not as long as it's not a ridiculous price. He was in incredible form last year, although its slightly dropping off now I would still take him on a two year contract in a heart beat.

Worth considering but might be too old for us. At the least the benefit would be bumping up his contract to stretch the Crow's salary cap.

Depends if the new coach is a "left of field thinker"

Would make a great fillip if fit

Isn't this the same player who left us for dead once we developed him and went to the crows and played his best footy there?

He is paying good money for the Brownlow. Probably won't play beyond 2 more years though.

Yep, hate him. But if he walks back through the door again, I'll welcome him as a demon. Let's be honest, our midfield needs all the help it can get.

And we can be so high minded and picky because ........ :o

Its business, hes good.

I would have rather Thompson was at Melbourne in 2005 or 2006 when we were a very real chance to pinch a flag. And his injury mid-2004 cost us big time.

It does need help but what he did really grates me and tbh not sure I would welcome him back.

But at the end of the day it doesn't mean jack what I think.

It's not about being high minded and picky b but more not taking an ex player back who has shite in our nest.

We are now expected to welcome him back when hes done and dusted and then take us for another ride?

No thanks

I thought it was a dog act, but I think we have to move on. Just as Geelong did with Ablett. It clearly grated them in the first year - their membership campaign DNA (Don't Need Ablett) said it all. But they applaud him now. We have to move forward. If he helped our midfield for two years, then that's a win worth offsetting against our disappointment at him leaving in the first place.

I agree it was a dog act.( and yes we need to move on but)

Ablett gave everything to the cats and then left for good $$$ and cause he had a rift with the coach.

Thompson gave us nothing even though we developed him (we actually develop a player correctly and he nicks off, ironic hey)

No way. We put in a hell of a lot work into his rehab and fixing his kicking action, only to be screwed over.

He obviously loved being home better than Melbourne. Let him stay there and rot.

From what I have seen tonight he looks past it.

No thanks and that's regardless of his past.

His impact on games is diminishing, and he's now 31. Part of the reason Adelaide aren't playing as well this year is because he isn't winning inside ball as consistently this year.

Pass.

I think we would show him the same loyalty as he showed us

I would take him in a heartbeat.

Come home* Scotty

People are yelling for Magner. Thompson on one leg is ten times the player Magner ever could be.

We need solid bodies and we need help in the middle.

*yes, I know Melbourne is not his home.
