Jesse Hogan expectations

I don't like it. He's not going to be a savior and like Watts and Sylvia before him, expecting to much of a young lad will hinder his progression mentally. Just as we are now doing Toumpas now, I can see the fans giving JH a kicking when he has a flat patch.

I just want to see this kid come in without to much media driven expectation.

From what we can all see with our own eyes he will be at minimum a very good player for us

It is far too late to expect the media to not be following the progress of Jesse Hogan

They will be critical on his bad days and elevate him to godlike status when he excels

Its the way the Media works

Just ask Jack Watts

Absolutely no on field expectations, i want him to learn his trade playing alongside clark and dawes, and i want him to enjoy playing in a team that wins a few games, if he kicks his 20-30 goals for the year that would be fantastic but isn't essential

Apparently there is a player at Casey who is not on our list and therefore cannot play for us. I've heard he might be good, but since he's not a Melbourne player yet I haven't looked into it too much.

I suggest everyone else do the same.

Now taking bets on the first "Hogan is a hack" thread to hit Demonland.

Will it be:

A. After his first game

B. After only kicking 3 goals in the Nab Cup against Geelong in Albury suburban footy ground

C. After failing to win the Rising Star Award

D. After 3 games in a row in which he kicks just 1 goal

ah yes, more perpetuation of mindless regurgitation and mythologies created by the media.

please explain to us exactly how supporter enthusiasm had a negative affect on Jack Watts' career

don't tell me THAT there was supporter enthusiasm, don't tell me THAT his career got off to a slow start, explain to me how those two things are linked

thanks

The one thing we can be sure of is that at some point there will be a thread saying we should have taken Thomas Boyd instead of Jesse Hogan!

it's a Demonland thing

If he hasn't got the Bluey, Brownlow and Coleman medals sown up by round 3, I'll be demanding we get our money back....... Nah seriously it'll be round 2 when he is our only KPF, as people on here want to trade Dawes, Fitzy, Watts and Clarky will be injured, he'll get triple teamed and still bag 3 but he will be a hack as he hasn't carried 21 other lazy crappy footballers over the line by himself!

Anyway, please oh please PJ give this kid a really bloody long contract, paying whatever he wants :-) if he ends up half a Wayne Carey or 3/4 a Johnno Brown, or even better a whole Jesse Hogan I'll be happy

Compared to Watts, Hogan has it easy coming in,

Not only that, he has a bigger body, more mature, more aggressive, has played against men.

Probably played more footy in general than Watts.

Hogan will be surrounded by better forwards

Watts had to compete with the hype of Nick Nat, etc... Hogan competes with no-one.

The only thing Jesse Hogan will have to put up with is speculation that he is homesick.

Brownlow, Coleman Medal, Norm Smith Medal, Michael Tuck Medal, Bluey, OAM and NAB Rising Star in his first year.

Have I missed anything?

Yeah, that's right.

Trying to keep the lid on.

Australian of the Year, Nobel prize winner, Archibald prize and Victoria cross.....

I really don't think it's beyond Jesse to be the first person in AFL/VFL history to kick 200 goals in a season.

I heard Jesse Hogan is the twin brother of Chuck Norris,

don't want to put too many wraps on the kids but anything less than a brownlow, coleman and 1000 goals in his first year would mean he has had an injury

I expect him to rebel against Paul Roos when we're 4 and 4 next year, have him sacked and take over as playing coach.

We'll finish 2nd with 18 wins and 4 losses.

But we lose the grand final because we still don't have a midfield. Jesse wins the Norm Smith of course, to go with his Brownlow, Coleman and AVN Performer of the Year Award.

He does not smile the whole time.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
