I presume that Heath Scotland was put in that list as a joke? To see if we actually read the list before ticking.

Tona, why would we offer Dayle Garlett a big contract when I'm quite sure he'd be happy to take any AFL opportunity that comes his way?

Why do people want Cooney? His knee is completely shot.

Have no idea... Hes a name, people gravitate to it. ( seemingly without thinking )

Neil Craig as coach with Cameron Ling and Nathan Bassett signing on as assistants and Rohan Welsh to be on the payroll part time splitting his time between Casey senior coach & Melbourne. One of those three to take over from Craig after 3-5 years.

Jack Watts & Colin Sylvia to sign 3 year deals.

Max Gawn 2 year deal.

Biggest recruit being Pick 2 James Aish with one of Sheed or Dunstan slipping through to our 2nd round pick.

Daniel Cross may sign as a free agent or alternatively Rodan will go on 1 more year.

The improvement to come from within.

Coach: Roos as head coach and Ling to step in as assistant or midfield coach. Craig to stay with some other still major role.

Gawn: 3 year contract

Watts: 3 year contract

Sylvia: signs for 2 years

BIGGEST midfield recruit(s): Daniel Cross and Sheed. If we get another high end pp then Aish or Dunstan, preferably aish if available.

Rising star: Hogan

Jesse Hogan to be a major influence in his first year at the club and finish 2nd behind Jack Martin for the rising star award.

Jack Grimes as captain with Nathan Jones as vice.

Jack Trengove to have a full pre-season and be our biggest improver.

Jack Viney to be fit for the entire year and dominate in our midfield.

Jack Watts to be played predominantly in our forward line and only dropped back into defence when required.

Mitch Clark to finally be injury free and dominate up forward.

Jeremy Howe to take mark of the year (again) and play more midfield time.

Max Gawn and Jack Fitzpatrick to be the number 1 and number 2 rucks.

Mark Jamar to be moved on.

Recruit the best young midfielder available with our number 2 pick in the draft.

The Dees to finish above the Bulldogs on the ladder at the end of 2014 (I have $100 on it)

Changing my predictions. I'm feeling a lot more optimistic today after Watson's comments on Roos and Sylvia stating that he wants to stay.

Paul Roos as coach

Jack Watts & Colin Sylvia sign 3 year deals.

Max Gawn 2 year deal.

Free Agents: Dale Thomas (5 year deal) & Daniel Cross (2 year deal)

Trade Pick 2 to Port Adelaide for Ollie Wines (they can have the local boy Aish)

Trade Pick 19 & Fitzpatrick to GWS for Adams & a third round pick

Trade Pick 36 to Essendon for Leroy Jetta & a fourth round round pick

Go to the draft with Picks 35, 54 & Essendon's 4th round pick in the 60's.

Our line up for Round 1 2014

FB: Colin Garland, James Frawley, Dean Terlich

HB: Jeremy Howe, Tom McDonald, Jack Grimes

C: Colin Sylvia, Daniel Cross, Jack Viney

HF: Jack Watts, Chris Dawes, Luke Tapscott

FF: Jesse Hogan, Mitch Clark, Leroy Jetta

FOLL: Mark Jamar, Oliie Wines, Nathan Jones

INT: Taylor Adams, Dale Thomas, Jack Trengove

Hogan to be the biggest sensation the game has seen since coleman, catapults us into the finals and kicks 100 goals

Yeah, why on earth would we want someone who leads by example, who provides mentoring for the younger players and who proudly represents his club at any given opportunity?

Because a captain needs charisma, which Nathan Jones lacks. A captain needs to speak well. Nathan Jones does not. A captain needs to be an attractive billboard for major sponsors. Yeah, nah.

Nathan Jones is an excellent player, is a good leader (as you say, mostly by example, which is only one facet of great leadership) and seems to be a good bloke too. He still isn't captaincy material.

How can we get Trengove running freely, how can we get Sylvia's arousal levels up each and every game, how can we get Tapscott finding the footy, how can we get Howe impacting the game more frequently, how can we get Toumpas some space with the ball, how can we get Strauss running off half back through the corridor and delivering forward, how can we get Blease the footy 10 more times a game.

The MFC has untapped potential.

    TRAINING: Tuesday 28th May 2024

Veteran Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin returned to the training track to bring you the following observations from Gosch's Paddock this morning. Beautiful morning for training. The dew has dried, out from AAMI, quiet chatting. Maysie does his heart symbol. 7 in rehab, Turner, Hore, Sestan, BBB, Petty, Spargo and Schache. All in runners. Melky weighted and change of angles work. Salem has his individual program. White cap (no contact), Howes, Woewodin and Sparrow

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
