The Trade/Draft Rumour Mill

I have spoken to people with more clout than coterie members. I'm not saying we won't keep pick 2 and I'm not saying Dylan Shiel won't necessarily come to the Dees. But I know the club is looking at other avenues and has offered pick 2 directly for another player which hasn't been resolved yet and the player hasn't been mentioned in dispatches anywhere. Now Im not going to say who the player is because Im not going to betray the source of my information - and the likehlihood of his club letting him go is extremely remote, in any case - am merely saying that your contention of it being Shiel or the pick kept is 100% incorrect!

For your info this particular coterie member has put quite a few dollars into the club. We shall see what unfolds!

Fascinating period.

Watching the MFC manage the media, feeding out tidbits whilst plugging the internal leaks.

It almost feels like a professional football club.

Takes a little getting used to doesnt it !!

In many respects the Demons that front the world will have only a passing resemblance to that which we were a year or so ago. Had to happen or we perished.

just as carlton is morphing into Collingwood we're evolving into a real football club with a real football team.

have to go lay down again....its all too much !!!

How would divulging the name of the player be a betrayal of your source? If you were to come on here and say, "I have heard a rumour that X player has been approached", that is no different to any other rumour on this site - you are an anonymous poster, your "source" is unnamed and no-one is any the wiser. Do these people you have spoken to know that you go onto Demonland using the moniker "goodoil"? Somehow I doubt it.

Any chance of telling us what club or is that giving to much away?

Think some posters need to recall the respect board. Clark Kent has posted on a rumour board the rumours he's heard. If you don't like them, it's great because fair chance they won't be true but saying don't post them as you look like an idiot doesn't promote others to come forward with their rumours. We're all fighting the same battle here let's be a little more grateful, even if the resulting post isn't what you want to hear.

I'm sure he or she is wonderful contributor and as I said, us keeping pick 2 and or receiving Shiel are possible scenarios. Logic will tell you that with two weeks of trade period left, the club won't have shut the door to other possibilities, irrespective of any info I have.

Well, the information would be the genesis of new threads and substantial conjecture and as I'm a Melbourne supporter it would be pretty easy to guess that I've either told someone or come on here, given it isn't mentioned here. Aside from that I promised not to mention the player's name. I merely mentioned the info as a counter to the info that it is either Shiel or pick 2. The club has other irons in the fire re pick 2. I don't think we will get there player anyway. Similar to Shiel, I don't think his club will let him go whilst contracted, even if he wants to move.

This link is from an article in the Sun, http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/melbourne-coach-paul-roos-says-clubs-could-start-trading-their-stars-early/story-fni5f91a-1226735616834

Roos makes a couple of very interesting points. With lousy compensation for free agents clubs will trade players in the last year of their contract if they don't want to extend their existing contract. Is that a message to any of our players in this position? The article then goes on to quash any thoughts of Rockliff being recruited, saying "Roos adamant Melbourne will part with selection two for a young midfielder. The Demons have inquired about Brisbane’s Tom Rockliff who has declined their offer, with West Coast’s Luke Shuey also not available despite overtures".

Fairly definitive statement IMO

"I won't be coaching next year" - Paul Roos - also fairly definitive

Because we see or hear little reflects more about the seive being sealed more than any lack of behind the scenes movements etc.

I have a contact at Melbourne, believe it or not.. ( i know some people are skeptical on sources) and am told that the jamar stuff is not true, he did not deny thatif a great trrade was offered they would look at it, but at this stage its not true.

Fascinating.

Tell me moreeeeeeeeeeeeee...................... ..... ...

Don't bother.

Just because you put a whole lot of dollars into the club, doesn't mean [censored] for how much news you know about the clubs trading plans. If MFC are telling each and every well funded member our plans than the club is stupider than I thought.

Demoneyes is thoroughly enjoying people caring about what he is saying, but after 50 rumours followed up by this is who I know and why you should believe me I gave up caring a week ago.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
