Bomber Thompson ... Lets Get Him?

SO with recent admissions by Jobe Watson surely heads will roll at Essendon.

I dont expect Hird to get the boot, but I think assistants and definitely medical staff will be looked at closely.

While he has said he doesnt want to coach again at all, I think a call from PJ (much similar to his call to Paul Roo's) wouldnt be a waste of time.

He is on mega bucks at EFC, I think we could match if not top those dollars.

Besides the obvious fact that he coached Geelong into and through a golden era, people often forget the scrutiny he received before the era began.

He was under the pump in a big way but still produced, he also galvanized the playing group to a level not seen in the AFL which has now become the benchmark.

He made players out of people like Enright, Corey, Bartell, Taylor and no one can doubt his input into recruit at the cats...

All in all should be as wanted by the MFC as Paul Roo's and definitely a better option than Mark Williams... IMO

Thoughts?

i'd love to have him as our coach, but when Roos left the door open about coaching melbourne they asked Thompson too and they hadnt even finished their question and he was already saying no, so very little if any chance of him even considering it. I think he would want to finish up at the bombers

If you knew what I knew about what Thompson was like down at the Cattery off the field - I reckon you would change your tune.

We should get Kent Kingsley as the Fwd Coach...

Any chance you can shed some light?

I know he didnt handle the Ablett situation in the best way but he is a damn good coach and developer of talent.

Yes he probably brought all the sh!t on Essendon, but it was at the time a grey area...

Lets not forget Dank was dealing with us also, im pretty sure Bomber didnt have anything to do with that...

I also realise he was adamant he didnt want to even be considered but to be the best you need to get the best...

Also can someone shed some light on an apparent new rule that says we cannot engage an already emploed assistant this year... I was told we had to wait until seasons end to sign anyone...??

I really do believe that we need to sign someone this season so the uncontracted players can get a taste of what he is like and he has a chance to convince them to stay...

Mark Thompson spent more off-time at the bars in Geelong chatting up blondes half his age than doing normal 50yo guy stuff.

The senior players at Geelong knew this too, and that's why he finished up, they lost the respect for him, when he wouldn't live to the same standards he asked of them!

The rumours of other stuff are out there too..

You obviously don't listen to Patrick Smith on SEN who dropped his personal support for Essendon over issues involving Bomber . Didn't Costa reveal that at the time Bomber was accusing Ablett Jnr of disloyalty and personally snubbing him , phone records showed that Thompson was making umpteen calls to Windy Hill from his club office !

No, you are confusing him with Bill Shorten.....anyway the departure from Geelong was fractious, after all he had done, think we should look elsewhere, haven't we had enough trouble?

Thompson was involved in a lot of extra corricular activities outside the Boundries of mere coaching down at Geelong.

Got rather bored in the coaches box to, remember those cutaways of him chowing down on salad rolls during matches?

He did more work after hours

wouldn't be so sure about the golden boy

he is in it up to his eyeballs

didn't he originally say "i accept full responsibility". I wonder if he still thinks this

to me he is the most vulnerable in the responsibility/ownership criteria

Not interested in Thompson.

The Cats success was all player driven, Thompson had the easiest job in football.

THey won a flag the year after he left, remember.

Don't care how good his record is. off field he nothing but a snake and a dirt. Someone mentioned that he is at local bars chatting blonds, I can tell you that is not else he does too, hence why he has been quite about the drug scandal..

Ask Kent Kingsley what he thinks of him

My thoughts are not really printable. What a foolish proposition is the kindest thing I can say.

Actually read my signature for my real thoughts ...

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
