Frawley out for 4 weeks

Most last year probably would have said Frawley, Clark, Grimes and T-Mac were in our top 5 players with Jones. There's alot of truth in its not the number of injuries but who they're too. Would nice at least at some stage in the second half of the year to get our best 18 on the park together.

Yes, last year was a pleasure to watch.

Options for mine are:

Garland: Our most in form defender. but has shown when matched up against Kennedy in Round 3 that he struggles against the giant forwards.

Sellar: Will get burned when Cloke gets on his bike

Pedersen: Probably gets first crack. Has the height, build and agility to do it. Skill level is the question?

Davis: Would be setting the poor kid up to fail.

Tom McDonald: You'd think would require a week at Casey.

Joel MacDonald:Towled Cloke up in Round 2, 2010 and certainly has the agility and physical agression to go with Cloke. Due to the size difference though you'd need to heavily rely on the like of Garland & Dunn to peel off their men and help Joel out. I reckon he would be worth a look.

Pedersen not tall enough, Sellar will take the role...Davis should get an opportunity over the next few weeks, with Frawley out. Even with Frawley in I think Sellar would have been called up for Cloke, this is the type of role he was brought to the club to fill.

It would be interesting to hear the views of posters on how they suggest we try to deal with Cloke next week. What can we do?

It would be especially good to see the suggestions from anti-Neeld posters who will probably blame Neeld for forgetting to clone Frawley when Cloke kicks 10 goals.

Tell him hes been recruited.

Good on you for getting amongst it!

I would say though that when we tried Watts on Jono Brown he got absolutely, completely smashed. I doubt Neeld will go there again.

HI Guys. My first post but have been reading this forum for awhile. I would try Jack Watts on Cloke. He has the size to compete.

Indeed a suggestion out of left field since he seems to be finding his way round the forward line atm, however desperate times. Pity we have so few forward options, Id even give Dawes a go, if not just to stick it to the filth supporters, boy will they give it to him.

How about rivers ? That's right he left and we got gillies. How about gillies? Yeah...um...nah only problem is he is a pathetic excuse for a footballer .... Someone tell me I've got it all wrong....please ?!

You've got it wrong.

Rivers was completely demolished by Cloke on QB two years ago and we lost that game by 15 goals.

To be a dominate defender you need to hate to lose every contest, Watts does not fall into that category.

That and he is not a defender. Sure he is ok in the back line as a loose player but his positioning in 1 v 1 is horrible.

Troy Davis should get a chance for mine. He's big and strong and has been solid at casey. Id rather see him have an opportunity than have Gillies in !!!! For god sake give the kid a crack

I agree he should get a chance, but I reckon after the bye against St Kilda would be the perfect place. Bring he and Tommy Mc in against the Saints with Tommy Mc on Riewoldt and Davis on Maister. Bringing him in against the Pies and expecting him to take to overly big Cloke or Lynch is a big ask first up.

Pedersen not tall enough, Sellar will take the role...Davis should get an opportunity over the next few weeks, with Frawley out. Even with Frawley in I think Sellar would have been called up for Cloke, this is the type of role he was brought to the club to fill.

I would have thought Sellar would be the perfect like for like match up on Q-Stick.

Pedersen's 193cm & 96kg and Sellar's 196cm & 97kg v Cloke 196cm 108kg.

So weight wise they're about the same, Sellar's the same height as Cloke which is only about 3cm bigger then Pedo however I'd argue Pedo's got the better engine to follow Cloke around the ground.

The one thing I'm sure we can agree on however is that Gillies is not the match up!

I think its gotta be Davis, if not this game, then when? having said that, regardless of who it is, you'd hope Dunn or one of the other guys can be a 3rd man up to limit Cloak's impact.

Davis - Cloak

Pederson - Lynch

Garland - Elliot

Strauss - Krack

Yes, last year was a pleasure to watch.

And your point? We have played most of the year without 4 of our best 5, cut away experience in Moloney, Rivers etc.... and mature deadwood in Bate, Petterd etc....

Makes it alot harder to judge whether we have improved at all.

Playing Davis this week would be worse than debuting a young 18 year old key position on Queens Birthday.

Sellar is good one on one. If Cloke gets on his bike up the ground then let him. Pederson to take Q.Garland to Elliot.

Yeah put Davis on Cloke in his first game, that will be great for his confidence.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
