Training - Thursday, 30th May, 2013

Boys were training the house down. Cale Morton stopped by and said that the standards were way better than he was used to at West Coast, and that he'll be requesting a trade back to the Dees in October in the hope that he'll be able to crack the top 15 runners at the club. Rohan Bail hit every single target laces out; Gillies looked agile, quick and made great decisions; Sellar was nailing every shot from about 60m out against the breeze.

Then I woke up.

The reality is no matter how we look at training Hawthorn are going to [censored] us by a epic margin.

For mine, if we can get within 6-7 goals as the final margin, that would be a positive step from the Freo game. Reality, says to me that we are likely to get beaten by about 70-80 points.

Hi guys just to prove I am actually insane I went along this morning.

Had a good conversation with another on looker.

We concluded we have a poor list but neither one of us need to go today to work that out.

To be honest not a lot to report, a normal training session.

T Mac took part in the session and I would be surprised if he is not selected.

Sylvia run / walked the boundary, not sure why as he has not played for two weeks and could hardly be injured.

Perhaps as he won' t play this week he was not doing match simulation.

J Mac looked in good nick I hope he plays.

I did not see Neeld , others ran the session.

It was a little wet and slippery and guess what

Guys like Dawes and Jones seem to be able to handle the ball and mark first grab but Fitzpatrick and others of his ilk dropped marks and slid about.

Unfortunately we have way too many of the later and no were enough of the former.

From my past visits they always look good on the track it is on the weekend the rot sets in.

Thanks OD... frankly, these attempts to cut down Neeld in almost every thread on these forums is to say the least, getting very very tiresome.

As an interstate member, it is always nice to get some insight as to how players are pulling up and and bit of a guide to individual players skills.

On a side note, Neeld stated in today's presser that they will wait to see how McDonald pulls up before making a decision and that Fitzpatrick will definitely being playing and playing forward. He also said they will make a few changes this week and that there are 4 or 5 guys at Casey who have been consistently good.

I don't understand why we've been playing so poorly because we've been great at training.

We haven't been playing poorly. Casey is right in the hunt.

It just shows how well we have been training. We have now reached a good VFL standard.

There seems to be a lot of sessions that Neeld doesn't run. Does this happen at other clubs as well? I've never seen a training session of any club so wondering if its a normal thing.

yes its normal

have a good day

The thing to remember about training is they are competing with players of their own ability.

We have what may be the worst list in the competition, they look good today.

But come the weekend we match up to players who on average are a lot better.

Guess what we look good on the training track but crap against other sides.

One I forgot to mention

Bail he looked just as crappy on the track today as match day.

If he plays this week I will admit we have a crap FD

Agree 100 percent re the tiresome nature of incessant Neeld bagging.........sack him for whom? Another guy to kick when he is down?

I just hope that if Fitzy gets a game, he gets three or four regardless of how he goes: given the anticipated weather this weekend I doubt if he will be taking a lot of big grabs, but he doesn't need just one or two games then get dropped. In fact any of the promotees from Casey should get a few to see how they get up to pace.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
