$5 million black hole for Demons in next 2 years.

Recommended Posts

Its really not looking good is it? That forecast from Jackson is a bit ominous. To be back in the same position, after all the hard work by Jim Stynes and so many others, so soon is quite astounding really.

Not surprising is it?

Has been raised by many before...............Foundation Heroes an unsustainable revenue stream for the club.

Apart from coordinating charity events, how was the previous CEO planning on growing the business?

What a circus.

Hire a coach that will give us some hope and tons of good publicity, and watch members and sponsors sign up in droves.

Choco WIlliams will do the trick.

There was a thread last year where there was lauding of the Board and the business model when we claimed a profit of 80k based on the generous FH contribution of 700k.

Those that exposed it as a house of cards and a faux indication of the financial "health" were beset upon by all and sundry with their varying degrees of financial ignorance

Members and debt reduction contributors have every right to feel cheated by incompetent rubbish that has been served up over the past 5 years.

The AFL needs to rescue this club before it inflicts any further damage on itself.

Get in a big name coach (EXPERIENCED) and watch hope return to the club along with players buy in, new members coming on board and increased attendance.

Its a big loss $$$ wise but if nothing is done it will be alot bigger.

This announcement should at least highlight to you that the Coach is only part of the problem. He is a problem but he is not the whole problem.

And we wont get a high calibre coach until we have all the necessary off field issues settled (re Board, CEO and clearing the ASADA issues.

You need to get your head out of the sand if you think its a quick fix.

I don't understand why people think that getting a big name coach will just instantly attract bigger crowds. Carlton have got the biggest named coach in the AFL and their crowd figures aren't showing signs of significant increases. In some games they have actually gone down from last year, and we're only 9 games in to the season.

I'm also concerned about this expectation of player buy-in. A majority of the playing group give me no confidence that this will happen - they've had 18 months to buy-in to what Neeld was wanting them to do, which most on here would agree sounded a lot better than what was previously happening. But no, our soft in the head, weak pack of bastards that pull on the red and blue each week do what they want and it costs others their jobs.

Mentioned this in another thread. Seems more important now than ever...

In looking for a CEO think outside the box. One move that still has me scratching my head was Stynes removing Mcnmee almost immediately. To me he was an inspired and savvy choice. And obviously had some runs on the board running arguably Australia's premier sporting event the australian open. I often wonder how differently things would have turned out if he was given the chance. To me the CEO is the money man, and the footy man should be the football manager. We need someone who will come in a find some more revenue and fast. We can't just say oh we have the bentleigh club and that's it. We need to get into a position where if we have a bad year and lose 1.5 million like this year and be able to take the hit, not be worried we will fold. The current business model of getting supporters to tip in money continually is unsustainable. If we get to a 5 million dollar debt again it will be lights out this time for certain.

Isn't this what Jackson is, and is doing?

Disgraceful.

The entire board should resign. If this was the corporate world -- or, say, their own companies -- they'd have been kicked out the door long ago.

Why were you surprised?

Stynes had to reinstate his good ol' buddy ol' pal, Schwab.

^^^

Paul McNamee eh.

I almost forgot about him, we've had so many failed CEO's.

Was it him or the Snake Skin Salesman Ray Ellis who tried to make a play for Jonathon Brown?

He wasn't a "failed CEO". It was a failed hiring.
He wanted to attract a marque player to the club, someone that would sell memberships and get bums on seats and, like, you know, lead the club.
The club kicked him out because of his "errancies" (actual word used by someone in the club).

I got confused as to wether or not Jackson is staying, so if he is actually only here temporarily its his job to find this CEO.

McNamee wanted J. Brown. Theres nothing wrong with wanting to bring a superstar to our club. Im not sure how he failed. He was moved on before he even got a chance to move in our good old buddy Schwab.

Not only that, but at the time he had to practically beg for him to come back too. Would have loved to have seen what Mcnamee could have done for the club. He was after Jonathon brown. Tanking definitely wasn't on his mind. Maybe thats why he was moved on.

they already get big crowds, its not like they had much scope to increase

whereas as ours will rise comfortably

They do against the other power clubs. Take a look at their crowds against crap clubs.

Sure, they still get more to a GWS game than what we do, but they have a crap load more members and supporters than us.

Would have brought the leadership on field that this club sadly lacks.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
