Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Issues for discussion:

1. Roos did not categorically rule out coaching the MFC if approached - said it would be highly unlikely - but, for the first time in living memory, he didn't bag the club per se, just generically said he liked his current gig and did not really want to coach ANY team

2. Roos suggested Lyon may have been interested in coaching the MFC at the end of 2011, but was not approached

3. Healy suggested Moloney should still be at the club and the selection of Dawes was poor

4. None of the panel could believe that Neeld stated that we were 'out muscled' by the Suns in the post match press conference - if true, 'an indictment on the whole club'.

Dawses selection not poor but in terms of financial outlay it probably was, agree with point 4 and roos may coach dees if price is right I think

if Roos didnt verbally slaughter us as he does most weeks, I have to think theirs a chance he will be coaching as in 2014

My IMPRESSION is that he would be open to a discussion with Peter Jackson about it - Roos would have a lot of questions that would need to be answered to his satisfaction, and the terms would have to be very favourable.

My wife disagreed - she doesn't think he wants to coach again.

Lets hope we approach Roos !! They have to surely

I think your wife is a wise woman.

I reckon if he does come back to coaching he will pick up GCS....a club with a reasonable future.

And if he does decide to return then he needs to move in the next 18 months.

Not so sure about that. She agreed to marry me - even my parents think that was probably a reckless decision.

Personally I think we paid overs for Dawes, not just financially but with pick 20.

I agree with your wife, his family loves living in Sydney even though he is a Melbourne boy. He will NOT coach MFC

No way... he didn't completely rule out coaching (but he did all but rule it out), but I got the impression that he was definitely NOT interested in coaching at the MFC.

I agree with Mrs Burgundy.

Roos was asked outright, "would you be open to coaching Melbourne either next season or in the short to near future?"

"No" was the response. It was pretty clear cut.

He seems genuinely happy in his media role. I'd be greatly surprised to see him coaching anywhere again.

Haha.

Maybe she did it because you promised not to coach again at AFL level!

Seriously if Roos or any capable coach were up for a challenge then MFC is for them!

I think we are at least 3 years from getting out of the bottom quartile of clubs. This part of the dilemma with MFC.

Dear Paul Roos, this is the greatest sporting challenge that will ever exist anywhere. Please if you have the fire deep deep down...then this is the club for you.

I know for fact Hird stated to his employees at Gemba after much wooing from the Bombers that he had decided to stay at Gemba....100%....and two weeks later he signed!

"Coaching is not an option at the moment."

"Look, if the scenario happened and the club came to me, I don't think I could say yes."

James Hird, August 2010

I for one don't want Roos, everybody seems to think he will be the Savior,I don't agree, he coaches boring boring football.

I read Chris Dawes's blurb on MFC.com tonight, he's right, change for change sake is dumb. Neeld needs some help, I think PJ will assess and keep him but will get a more experienced structure around him.

The treatment of our senior playing list over the last 3-4 yrs is depolorable!

Dawes way to early to call & unfair......He showed on 3-4 ocassions that he did provide a target.....took marks & kicked to players who scored.

You could have Lockett & Dunstall up front ......if you dont have a midfield & garbage ballls kicked to fwd line....even they would make a difference

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
