Jack Trengove

Recommended Posts

Neeldy will be sacked by seasons end. Then we will hire experienced coach who will give captaincy to Jones and will let Trengove develop as a player without stress of captaincy.

hopefully John Worsfold, he will sort us out

How does that explain the first 15 minutes of a game, where he is the slowest player on the ground, Spencer included?

Spencer is quick. Pay attention!

I do not understand how him being captain of a struggling club and one of the worst teams in history affects his ability to run. Can some please explain.

I'm not sure about this one either 'Daz'.

...but the mystery is 'what is affecting it'.

It's sad, but I feel the captaincy is stopping us from dropping him.

From what I've seen this year, he's not best 22. Whether it's an injury, external pressure, something mental, or just poor form right now, I feel he's only playing because he's captain. He should have been dropped by now.

Perfect opportunity to put him into cotton wool, along with Grimes, and give the acting captaincy to Jones who actually deserves it, the bald tatted guy who can actually impact a game and inspire his troops.

So many excuses.

They said he wasn't carrying anything last year, when the season ended. Why cover anything up when the season is done? It came out that Frawley was injured during last season..,

In any event, he's out there, he's fair game. Carrying something? Do the team/captain thing, put your hand up and hit the rehab group. Rather than make us a man down any time there's a lose ball or anything that resembles a foot race.

Of all the rubbish we are watching, this is one of the hardest things to watch.

And Nathan Jones... Just walk in and announce you are now the captain. You have to do everything else yourself, so why not.

he was never the quickest player, but he doesnt look that slow early, but rather as the game progresses

No, he looked slow on a chase 30 seconds in to the game...

What do do..?

My understanding having spoken to someone well connected to the club is that Trenners is about to be put on ice and Jones will be our acting captain possibly until the end of the season.

Also a possibility that Grimes will miss nearly if not the whole season.

I simply dont think hes 100% right...not even 80% but Neeld still obviously thinks he represent beter value than others.. God help us.

If Trenners is less than good to go then he ought to be accumulating fitness in the magoos ( I dont care who you are )

If this IS as good as he is currently then hes an abject failure of a pick. 3 years ago was mecurial in SA...now hes really more a liability than an assett.

Theres something not right about asll this

I don't think it is anything mental, he is just slow with everything he does.

In his first year with us I thought he was a better player and had a better year than $cully, he's nowhere near that form now.

He can play and I'm sure he will come good there is something not quite right, and hopefully the club will get to the bottom of it; they need to rest him before he gets destroyed by the media. They will be watching him now.

not a chance

We all know he has a issue with his foot and clearly isn't 100% yet.

Neeld needs to bite the bullet and rest him.

They will both get flogged in the media, but if you're not 100% then you shouldn't play, but the best response for them will be for him to come back when he is ready and silence the critics.

Sounds plausable.

did whoever you spoke to elabortae on tengove being put on ice? i guess what im asking is is he carrying an injury that requires further rehabilitation or by ice do you mean dropped to casey?

He needs to be at senior level.

hell be right.

He'll be right ????? Typical comment of a person accepting mediocrity with no valid evidence to support the statement She'll be right mate Melbourne will make the Top four etc etc ..... When will he be right ??? On what basis do you come to this amazing conclusion ??/

I think a lot of people are jumping to the conclusion that he is injured because they want that to be the case. He played very well last week didn't he? I remember people last week saying he was on an 'upward curve'!

for the last two seasons I have been of the opinion that Trengove is a half forward.

IMO the majority of his good games were when he played in that position.

He is not a mid field player.

As for the captaincy he should not have been given the job, too much for a guy trying to progress his career in a crap team where too much is expected of him.

I did not see his game yesterday but in previous weeks he has IMO not justified his placed in the side.

If he was a rookie he would have been dropped before yesterday.

He should be rested at Casey for a week or two.

He was actually great in his first two games back. I think he kicked two goals in each of those games, as well as having a few tackles and a number of contested possessions. The fact that he's quickly gone downhill speaks to how underdone he is as a result of his foot injury.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
