Today I'd like to kick off this week's gameday thread by asking who might be our sub for today. Will it be Aaron Davey, Sam Blease, David Rodan or someone else?

Also, does anyone know whether we'll have to wear our clash strip today?

Posted (edited)

i think it will be Rodan but wouldn't be surprised if it was Blease

will we start Frawley or Mcdonald on Brown?

I reckon Frawley will play on Brown and McDonald will play on the more athletic Cornelius.

As for the sub, I have a feeling it will be Aaron Davey most weeks this year. But based on Blease's terrible performance against Essendon, I think I'd like him on the bench instead.

Would love to see Jack Watts play that hit up CHF role today.

Haha just had a flash back to when Viney played Green as a sub in 2011 - first ever player to selected as a substitute whilst being a captain... and off the top of my head the only

This is what annoys me the most about him, the bloke should be tearing sides like GWS up right now and i'm not convinced we haven't developed him okay, it seems to all be there when he wants to do things, it's just he is abit soft and lacks passion and confidence at the moment, which is unfortunate.

Our chance to kill a coach other than are own today.

And to be equal ninths on the ladder

And to play the Suns for a place in the eight next week. Out by percentage.

Oh footy is a strange game at times.

Big day for Mark Neeld today.

A chance for 2 in a row. Let the team play Mark.

Run Run Run. Brisbane can be beaten today.

Was it last time we played Brisbane that Jonno Brown made Watts his personal ragdoll in the space of about 15 minutes? Anyone but Watts this time.

It's still a difficult match up. Even if Brown is approaching his twilight, he still has that amazing tank that allows him to drag his opponent around all day. Who has the body, stamina and commitment to stick with him, or conversely the knowledge of when to peel off him? Would have to be Chip I guess.

So wish i was going today. Would be good to see how the boys are after a win last week.....looks like fox footy for me

I've tipped a win cause I think we're a chance, but Brisbane will be viewing this in the same light as we did GWS. They have a point to prove.

Bottom line doesn't change. These are games we need to win in order to say there's been any improvement on last year. They are down on form and missing key players. A shellacking will be indefensible, but once again there will be some who find a way.

I think people get caught up that a small defender means you need to be small. I would expect Terlich to take Garlett, Garland to take Betts which he has done well before and Watts to take Yarran subject to his performance today. If not Nicho, Strauss and Dunn will be ready to step up and may get a guernsey regardless.

Both sides are out of form, though I guess since we won last week, and are coming off a 12-goal quarter, we're less so.

Both sides are missing key players.

The one main difference - it's in Brisbane.

In Melbourne, I'd be a lot more confident, but putting our side on a foreign ground, especially since we've been at the G all year so far, makes me doubt our chances.

At our best (first half v West Coast, last quarter v GWS) we can and should beat them. Whether we can reach our best for long enough up there remains to be seen.

Would be extremely disappointed to see them get thrashed today! They are set up for a good win and two in a row if they can find the same form as in the last qtr last week! Go Dees!

We'll lose by 10 goals

Good to see an optimist.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
