Tom Scully @ GWS

OK ... since everyone's picking on the ex Melbourne players and what they're doing now that they've gone elsewhere, I have some news on master Scully up in Sydney for the Battle of the Bridge where, sadly, I must report that he's been reported for Tom Scully has been reported for tripping Rhyce Shaw. He's not doing well on the field either.

watched 1.5 quarters, had no sizeable impact from what I saw. Year number 4, not seeing a superstar, not seeing 50K a match either. I really don't care though, his departure was.. at least in a way ... instrumental in acquiring Hogan, Viney, Toumpas, Clark, Barry and Dawes - getting those 2 picks and the extra cap space completely changed our landscape for the last two drafts, I doubt we would have been able to pull off anywhere near what we did at the trade/draft table if he hadn't been such a [censored]

Jury is still out my arse. One wanted to be here, one didn't. It's as simple as that.

When Trengove is truly injury free and match fit there will be quite a few around here eating their words. You forget the kid can play.

Agree totally we needed those picks more than Scully

As for rating Scully as a player he is so disappointing: he doesn't impact the game today with any significance

appears too slim, does not get enough clearances

Scully looks like he is trying but does not have the capacity to get enough touches

Scully looks less effective than most other GWS players

Lachie Whitfield is a better player already

Scully must console himself with the $ and the probability that GWS will continue to play him regardless of his meagre influence on the game

Well done Sheeds

Either way, they are a pretty bad top two picks.

Do both have high ball drops........

Are they in the Clive waterhouse / josh Fraser / kosi class yet? No.

Way too early to write of Trenners. Let him have an injury free run at it before sticking the boots in. His 18's form was as good as any. Year 1 & 2 were better than a pass as well IMHO.

Hw will turm it around.

Forgetting the $$$ and mercenary stuff for a moment, it's hard to believe that he's entering his 4th year and only a good foot soldier at best. This could certainly change down the track but the clock is ticking.

Who honestly didn't think we had a future great of the game with his junior rep and first 10 games? Has not come on at all. Just not strong and skilled enough at this stage and at 22 he should be starting to hit his straps as a mid.

Still, it's not our problem anymore. I'm just grateful we got the compensation we did because if he was still at Melbourne and playing mediocre football... the vultures would be circling.

And as much as I love Trengove as a clubman, he finds himself in a similar position. Can make excuses for him (some valid) but he needs to start making strides in the not too distant future.

I think with Scully it is important to remember the kid is barely bigger than Blease. By the same token... Blease has more 'upside' in speed, creativity and agility.

Scully will be alright, I guess. Not $1million worth of alright, or No.1 draft pick alright, but he'll be alright.

Apart from a 10 minute patch in the 3rd where he racked up some disposal and finally hit a target, he was absolutely terrible.

If you were picking sides using GWS, he'd almost be last picked.

For 6 million I'd rather blow it on a bloke that can take mark/goal of the week, or an enforcer, or some funny bastard to do all the media...

6 million on a little, boring spud. Well played Giants.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
