...a little bit sick? I know all the "it's only NAB Cup", "we had x,y & z out" stuff, but I honestly thought we'd have shown a bit more in these pre-season games. We've grouped ourselves with the likes of Port and Brisbane, and slightly above GWS and GC, but on the past few weeks' showing, that opinion seems slightly inflated, bearing in mind how those other teams have gone.

'Course, it could all change come Rd 1, when we have at least one class forward back but for the moment, I'm feeling a little queasy about the next 6 months.

After a second Misson/Craig Pre Season we will be more competitive physically. Both have a fine track record of conditioning players to play tough hard competitive footy.

After a second Neeld pre season our players ability to implement a contemporary defensive game style should have improved.

We were missing our 2 first choice key forwards and our 2 first choice key defenders against the Suns which will limit any team.

Nup. Until we get an AFL class midfield on the park we'll struggle. We'll get there but it'll take time, and I'd expect that we'll be chasing someone (or two) that will complete the midfield puzzle at the end of the year.

I feel just fine... after all, we had a better NAB cup than the two grand finalists from last season ;-)

The grand finalsts from last year are exempt from needing to prove anything NAB cup. MFC finished 16th last season and need every opportunity to prove that they are a competitotor this year.

Tick tock tick tock neeld.

I reckon we won't do any better than last year judging by the way they've played so far, if we get done by Port in first round then we will be lucky to win 4 games

Feeling pretty buoyed actually, I reckon we have filled all positonal holes by 2014-2015 and addressed a dearth of skil and leadershipl and over supply of light bodies. This coming season is really hard to predict.

Still have minor concerns about our ruck stocks and the small forward spots. And while our midfield may look great next year, this year is really a lottery.

This season Neeld can start to form his football team, hopefully mid year we see some good glimpses of moving upward.

I am still willing to wait and see, but my 12 year old son is already depressed over what he has seen.

After hearing that Gold coast beat us yesterday, he said that we suck, and wasnt sure whether he wanted to go to the footy this year.

If lose to Port round one, we will be 5000 down minimum on membership.

Memo to players, "Please.....somebody do something!"

You are looking at the clock after one season? What kind of generation z impatience is that?

At least wait for the regular season to start before you judge the coach's performance.

I go into every year feeling a bit uneasy. I have made a pledge to myself not to get worked up too much from footy. Last year I found myself being shitty for days after we would get smashed. I thought we were on the improve last year and expected more. So this year I am just going to the G and expecting nothing. No expectations= No dissapointment. I am going to try to enjoy going to the footy again. If it all goes to hell I will look forward to the NFL season.

It's the kids i worry about. The kids who don't want to go to the footy because the Demons suck.

Yesterday is a practise game, yes. But try telling that to a kid who is going to cop it on monday.

Round 1 is very important...so is Round 2...

A whole season? Pfft. I think we should cycle coaches every time we lose a match. Why wait?

Haha, this makes me laugh cowboy, but only cos I can relate. As much as you tell yourself you will just let it wash over you, who do you really think you are convincing? It's an admirable philosophical position, but I don't buy your passive approach to the season, as bad as it might be. Not for one second....... B)

Leigh Brown could be coach by the end of Round 5. We could just avoid the trouble and appoint him now.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
