Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

There are 6 of the 9 games played this weekend to be shown live on fox footy

http://www.afl.com.au/tv-radio

Have a guess who the 6 teams are that miss out?

GC, GWS, Brissy, Port, North and of course us.

Oh and of course the following week three of those get covered, but again GC, Port and us miss out.

Clearly being broke and/or having a small supporter base has determined this fixture AGAIN.. I wonder when these fixtures are made if they even discuss who gets shafted or is there some list on the wall with our name at the top.

C&B not sure why you seem so surprised.

Television is all about ratings / costs.

Who the hell besides a few thousand Dees and Port supporters wants to watch a game as it turns out between both sides seconds.

They finished 14th and 16th.

Then add in it is being played in Renmark.

Any telecaster with half a brain would not cart all their equipment to Renmark for 7- 8000 viewers.

If you were running Foxtel would you?

I was hoping the game at casey would be shown, but I'm not surprised at all.

In 2012 we were largely irrelevant

Until we start winning a reasonable number of games we will continue to be treated that way.

Winners are grinners. Can't wait to string together a lot of good wins, increase our supporter base and membership. Other clubs may not win great numbers of games, but get coverage because of their large supporter base, eg, Tigers. Can't blame the networks really, they are only going where the numbers are. If we win 14 games in a season and play exciting footy, we'll get more supporters (hopefully) and greater coverage. Then it's up to our marketing people, admin people and us to maximise the opportunity.

I heard recently that at the time of the proposed merger with the Hawks, we had the most club members and they amongst the lowest. Why? Not like that now. Supporters follow success. The big push for members over the last 10 yrs has brought out the true level of club support. There are lots of Haw supporters (and members) below the age of 40, because that period represents their long purple patch through the 70s, 80s and 90s. Far too few Dee supporters under 40, as you would guess.

Even if it was televised at Renmark.

Somewhere between Adelaide and F..k knows where.

I think i'd rather watch the Aussies getting spanked by the Indians again.

I know I'm a glutton for punishment, but am definitely not a masochist.

Easy MS, pop those claws back in.

14 wins with this list is just not doable this year - 2014 would be a more realistic timeline.

If we achieve 8 -10 wins this year, I'll be very, very excited.

Ok, moon-claws in.

No one said it was to be this year.

I too would see progress with 8-10 this year.

Can you add something to the thread subject?

GOY.

Anyway, back on topic, does anyone know where there is a list of which H&A matches are to be televised on which networks? That is, if it has been decided already by the networks. Wondering if we'll get many free to air.

You would have to be, 8-10 is going to be hard to get. We are coming from a long way back.

The problem is that if we had better Time slots and fixturing we would have more supporters and more money to help us play better football. But we don't so we can't get as much money into our football dept as others who do, and of course they keep winning and get more prime time slots. Vicious cycle.

Have you been watching us for the past 6 years? I don't even want to watch half the time..............

the inequality has been going on for 30+ Years.

this is what causes clubs to flounder & not get off the bottom.

its the inequality of the 'blockbusters', the draw, the uneven fixture, & the allowances of the more powerful clubs to dictate their desires to the AFL that has caused a perennial underclass of clubs.

In life each new generation is born equal unless the 'haves' don't share equally the benefits from the environment we exist in.

It Has to start somewhere & the draft is a good place, but without the equalisation of an even draw & fixture as well as media exposure, than other clubs will grow way ahead as has happened.

It will continue to get worse until all teams get equal rights.

We've tried to elevate ourselves thru the draft & recruiting, but for a perennial cellar dweller, their isn't any quick fixes.

I agree & when clubs are rebuilding the list, as we still are, & Port is starting to, playing kids for teaching & experience takes precedence in the Pre Season games, over Wins...

not great for a TV audience.

Our Rnd 3 should be starting to ramp things up... & IMO this is the game I would like to see on say, the ABC...

Daniher wanted a salary cap for the football department expenditure, and was laughed at, even though it is an obvious unfair advantage

We shouldn't complain too much. We had a good run last year with coverage in the first three NAB Cup games and only missed out on the last one which was a fairly meaningless filler in the week of the grand final which was the only game telecast.

Tomorrow's game is more Mickey Mouse stuff and, unless someone puts their hand up, even Demonland isn't sending a correspondent to cover the game.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
