Jesse Hogan WOW!

It's interesting because IMO you need to play a full-blown gorilla full back to handle him, and frankly there aren't too many of them left...certainly were far more 10 years ago. Fletcher in his prime, Scarlett, that sort of thing.

There are a few around...Daniel Merrett (if he goes back to defence), Ted Richards, Warnock up at GC, McPharlin and Glass - perhaps Dawson. But the interesting part is most of these blokes are on the older side. A Josh Gibson gives up size to him, as does even a Michael Jamison (assuming you take the Trengove 100kg comments on face value). But there are really no defenders of his size who can move like he can anymore, and it's going to be really bloody interesting to see what happens.

Interestingly the entire league is in a similar spot with Patton right now.

If it all pans out like we hope I would love to see a Hurley/Hogan match up in future years. There is the price of admission right there

Just watched the replay for the kangas game and a bit of the tigers game, and I've decided I'm going to make it a point to try to get down to a few Casey games. He looks a player NOW, the way he out-bodied the Roos player made him look like a veteran.

Tough to keep a lid on this bloke.

I'm trying to get out of a weekend up at echuca when the nab game is on down at Casey. I'd love to see hogan in action up close.

We just have to forget the nickname "Hulk" It's just so Corn ball.

What about the "Beast"?

It gets us away from a cartoon character and more into the type of attitude we want in a player.

I'm with you. Prefer Jesse "the body" Hogan for those fans of WWF.....also reminds me of Elle.....

It wasn't just the one mark where he shoved aside a seasoned player like he was a 13 year old, it was his movement in general, hard leading, footy brain, the excellent final mark on the flank against North and the execution of the goal.

Most of all he confirmed everything I had already thought.

Can't wait for when Jesse gets into the team has a slight dip in form and the usual suspects on this board will crucify him

That's way too shallow thinking. Some players get criticized, because they're not good enough. You do realise that there's a reason we've been crud for years ? Or do you think we're just unlucky ?

Some of us like to praise, criticize, make observations, discuss a player's strengths and weaknesses, dissect deficiencies, analyse strengths, etc. You don't like to hear a bad word. We get that. But perhaps you can avoid threads, or commentary you don't like ? I don't agree with all posters views, but I at least get an opportunity to say why I disagree. You just don't want the conversation at all. I'm not sure why you post.

I guess we may be needing ECT if he is ready to play and he isn't allowed to.

I havent seen the game yet but some have mentioned Carey, J Brown or pre-knee Ox. Are these fair comparisons at his age?

From the tiny piece of footage I saw, taking the mark & kick, after strong body work, I would say he looked post knees Ox.

he has a long way to go yet.

1 game, does not a summer make.

A lot of the time the posts are just a bag of a certain player, seen it many times before, it is usually everybody says he's crap so he must be, I don't mind as you know if it is constructive but most of the time it is just destructive, but hey everybody is entitled to their opinion......if and when Jeese gets his dip in form will wait for the reaction

If you think we are crud, why do you bother?

I hope he becomes more pre-knees Ox!

So with that thought in mind, Jesse please stay right away from sprinkler holes.

Could you imagine that if he's THAT good to take the #1 defender what Clark would do against the SECOND best defender? The guy was doubled teamed in almost all his games last year and still dominated.

The mind boggles.

For this exact reason there is absolutely NO reason to rush Clark back into the side. Treat his foot injury with total caution. Build a personalised boot if needed.

Just get he & Hogan out there together. That is a scenario that could fill the MCG.

I don't think we've been crud, I know it. My eyes tell me. I don't pretend, or try and fool myself otherwise. I analyse players critically and objectively. The colours they wear doesn't change my opinion of them as players. I just hope like hell the ones wearing red and blue are better than the alternative. But if they're not I don't kid myself.

And I "bother" because I surf the good times and the bad. And have done so since I used to sit by myself at the 'G every week as a 13 year old in the late 70's. It's what I do.

Agree. We have an oppurtunity to scare the crap out of opposition teams in 2014. I know it sounds ridiculous to talk about next year already but if Howe, hogan and Mitch are all fit the forward line could be the best in the league. Plus our recruits this year have another pre season under their belt a top 8 spot is expected by me. Edited by cowboy_from_hell

The last time i was this excited about a player is when the Ox was taking hangars over everyones heads, and being compared to Carey.

Hoges is in the same league

I have seen this site blow up over Miller, Juice and others in the past so Ill wait to see where he is at in 3 years. A lot to work with here!

May I suggest forgetting what Demonland has blown up over in the past and watch the kid with your own two eyes?

Still another year of hard work in the gym, a year of practice at Casey and another pre-season for Hoges before he steps out round 1 2014.

He can be even better.

Stuff keeping a lid on things, we all deserve to get excited over something- and this is as good as anything!

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
