Is there any cash for winning the NAB cup?

It used to be $300,000. That would go a long way to paying our fine!

It was interesting that the ad in todays Sun for the game(s) had a photo of one player from each team , two established stars

from North and Tigers, and Jack Viney for us. Is it too early in his career for him to be a 'face', a marketable commodity?

It would have the added benefit of adding a significant number of new members, which increases our means of servicing that debt.

Very true. Some cash,more members and a weird feeling we would all have to look up in the dictionary I think its called positivity. It sounds good to me.

Sadly I threw away my dictionary in the middle of last year when City Hall announced we were being investigated for tanking. When I looked it up, the word

wasnt even in the there! Useless waste of trees!

I like the concept of having Fitzpatrick in both teams as he deserves a run. If Dawes has been recruited as FB then I would play him there instead of Pederson. Similarly I would play Hogan as CHB instead of Pederson in the other match as I believe that is the role that we are grooming him for rather than FB. Otherwise I don't have a problem with your selections. I suspect the half back line that you named for both matches is our best and hopefully will excell for the whole season.

Yes, my fingers got tangled with all these posts. Corrected notice below:

I like the concept of having Fitzpatrick in both teams as he deserves a run. If Dawes has been recruited as FF then I would play him there instead of Pederson. Similarly I would play Hogan as CHF instead of Pederson in the other match as I believe that is the role that we are grooming him for rather than FF. The likes of Tynan and Taggert will play against PA I would say. Really excited to see the new recruits and also how the midfield shapes up. Clearly it was a weak spot last year and from what I've seen and heard, they have been working extra hard on stoppage plays. Against classy midfielders, hope the new look Dees can shape up against them.

I believe there is still a monetary prize (but don't know how much). In 2010, the winner got $180k and the runner up $120k.

Never looked forward to NAB Cup footy like I am looking forward to Friday night. Just want to watch some footy. But I think the pre-season drags on far too long. From the first weekend of NAB Cup to Round 1 of the season proper is something like 6 weeks.

At least this allows time for Trengove (and hopefully Clark) to get up for Round 1

Is Tapscott another burnt top 20 pick? He is about as prominent as the boot studder in terms of the enthusiasm and chat around him. Gysberts, Strauss, Morton, Bate, Dunn, Cook.. very disappointing.

If you want to start that before the first game, why not others on here will want a scapegoat whether they are playing or not...sigh..

It may pay to visit previous threads such as "Jones shaddow" or "Luke Tapscott" threads if you want to find some mentions. This from November start of pre-season: -


Tapscott is one I have earmarked to step up. It goes without saying how important an uninterrupted solid pre-season can be for a player. It's important he gets one under his belt.

If that happens, I'm bristling with confidence that Luke can be a big improver and solid contributor for the side next year.

Well start a thread on him then or better still, bump a thread of his. I could have been real nice and provided you with the links that contain pages and pages of posts, but I couldn't be stuffed.

fwiw, there's a heap of players being overlooked or not discussed for some time. I think you know why. Demonland has had a couple of particular topics in recent times. Namely "Tanking" and "Wilson".

Just trying to assist mate. You stated no one here ever mentions him. I thought I'd point you in the right direction. the master on pg 1 of this thread mentions a niggle. Other than that I have nothing more.

He'll hold down a back six spot.

Don't forget, it takes a long, long time to recover from a broken leg....
