Mitch Clark

Must admit I'm nervous about this injury. Hopefully the big fella is back as soon as possible and can get back up to speed pretty quickly.

What a great acquisition Mitch Clark has been both on and off the field and what a wonderful example he sets for our youngsters. Let's hope we see plenty of 'on the field 'contribution from this very admirable person.

Anyone know how his injury is coming along? would be good of the footy club to keep us updated..

My gut feel tells me think May / June return

When it happened a physio friend told me think 12 months off.

I have seen nothing to suggest he was wrong

The club has said training back on the field in the next few weeks. From that timeline I'd say it would be another 3 weeks until training with the main group. That takes us to round 1. From there I'd think he'd need at least 2 matches in the vfl. One to play a half then another to play more of a match. So all things to plan we are at 8 weeks which means back around round 3.

The thing to watch for are progress. If we see him out their training properly that means he's graduated a step. After that look for him making the main group and so on.

Neeldy said in his intraclub game presser that both Mitch and Trenners were looking at around the round 1 mark. I too had thought around May/June would be more likely. Really hope I'm wrong. I guess the club is all over it and doesn't want to take any risks.

I'm drooling at the thought of Dawes at CHF, Mitch at FF and the guys further up field pumping it their way

12 months though is such a nebulous figure od

i wouldn't place too much exactitude to it

anything before round 5 will be a bonus i think based on where he seems to be now. fingers crossed

but what would i know

Or the other way round.

I read that late in the week before last. So my understanding he should be starting skills work this week. I watched Adam Goodes at the Swans intraclub on Friday. He was running laps while the intraclub was going on and then joined in skills training with the group after the game. Mitch will probably be eased in, in a similar way.

On a side note. Kirt Tippett looked awesome. Teddy Richards was playing on him and couldn't get a hand on him.

Remember John Meesen? Never recovered from foot injury. Delisted.

Remember Matthew Richardson? He recovered from an almost identical injury and went on to play superb footy.

It's red hot that we get put through the ringer for going after one priority pick and yet Sydney, the reigning premiers, can simply land Tippett in dodgy circumstances for Jesse White and pick 22 and seem to escape any significant negative press for it.

Hope Mitch is back and firing by round 3. We desperately need him to be. Pity we can't play Hogan in his absence.

The Swans got Tippett for nothing.

There's an article on him in the HS which indicates he'll liky miss round 1 but worst case scenario is seen to be out unt round 6. We have a couple of winnable games early so hopefully we can manage withou him until then. Would be close to our most valuable player now which is a credit to him.

may be good for the progress of Dawes and Pedersen to know that they have an opportunity to display their talent as key forward before Mitch comes back.

His presence at training is apparently enthusiastic but I would not want to see him, introduced too early

Hopefully we can hold him back with Howe pedersen and Dawes still creating a winning forward line and allow Mitch to come back match fit bursting with the game he displayed last year as an even more potent forward line.

Easily our most important player IMO.

We've had no heart for a few years at least, and Mitch came in and instantly gave us one. Really looking forward to having him and Viney in the team at the same time, finally the makings of a team with spirit.

Incidentally, his initials also stand for Man Crush.

& in the light of AFL interferences, if it weren't for the threat of court action & 'restraint of trade', the AFL would have tippett at GWS along with $ulky.

That will not be far from 12 months dc

I thought it was the First GWS game in June.

But not sure.

Anyway I will be delighted if it is round 5

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
