MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

In her opinion piece in today’s Age, Caroline Wilson states that “Melbourne worked hard to lose games of football that year” (being 2009), and that “Melbourne manipulated football results in 2009”. The information provided by the AFL to Melbourne Football Club after its 7 month investigation does not support either of these allegations.

Wilson also lists 5 points that she says forms part of MFC’s “unofficial defence”, and concludes these “stated excuses” are “flimsy, irrelevant and in some cases childish”. In fact not one of these points has been raised in the submission made by the MFC to the AFL, and in any hearing before the AFL Commission none will form part of our defence.

So the key points of Wilson’s opinion piece are just plain wrong - but as we all know in football, everyone’s entitled to their opinion.

We will continue to keep our members and supporters updated of developments.

Just perfect.

Its about time some one in an official position came out and told CARO to shove it where the sun don't shine.

I buy the Age only because they are a Melbourne sponsor and get a good deal.

I must say that I would prefer to get the HUN if I got a similar deal.

She and her apprentices have dragged this once great newspaper down to nothing more than Gutter Journalism.

Fairfax just has to get rid of her.

All of her stories are Opinion Pieces because she hasn't facts to back anything she writes.

I wonder if they publish this in the Fairfax Media.

My experience is that the Age and Sydney Morning Herald are very protective of their staff. They will on occasion allow some criticism but I've noticed that when this happens they will conveniently find a fluffy letter of support or two (often looking quite contrived) by way of attempted balance.

Great work from Don. I must admit I was somewhat peeved about Garry Lyon not standing up to the shrew on Footy Classified when she took a swipe at us last Thursday. It was even better coming right from the top.

Maybe it was all part of the plan...Wait for the right moment.

Actually, Caro's mental descent is all part of Cameron Schwab's plan to fix our low membership by engineering an MFC baby boom nine months after we finally get off this farcical investigation without charge.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
