Heard at a Melbourne cup lunch:

Have you heard about Melbourne's new uniform for next year?

It features a tank top.

If it wasn't us, it might be funny.........

About as lame as jokes come really.

Given what I've copped in the past 48 years it's like water off a duck's back.

I think we are gonna have to bunker down and cop it for a while. If we do well they are gonna say its because we are cheats, if we suck they are gonna say its karma. Unfortunately it a lose\ lose situation.

The blues have been referred to as "Carltank" for the last 5 years.

Doesn't appear to have harmed their membership or marketing too much.

Any funnier and that joke would slay them in the aisles on The Midday Show.

I actually think it is funny.

The only thing I have to smile about in this whole saga since that Richmond game.

Because we're being investigated for tanking, and tank tops are a singlet type top but called tank tops, so we will wear tank tops. I get it, it's so funny, just one of those rare gems that will forever make me laugh.

TANK tops!

And drove there in a tank. And they started the day by just drinking tank water, but is was off, so they hit the chardonnay and got totally tanked. When someone finally ordered them a taxi, they were so out of it they slurred their words, and just kept saying 'tank you'.

Ahh... this is one to keep in the vault.

I don't think so... I live in Sydney, and I don't see much of that resentment directed towards Melbourne Storm; in fact I think the general feeling was that it was good to seem them back doing well.

I'll laugh if we do cop a fair bit of stick over the off season, then we come out firing & pump half of them.

About as funny as aids

There are numerous threads on Demonland about this sorry episode Jonesbag.

There is no doubt in my mind we tanked, I was at that game against Richmond and was ferious we did not win.

The margin should have 5- 6 goals.

I am mystified why so many Dees fans think we are being treated so badly by the the Media on this subject.

We just did it so poorly

Now we are not the first and whether we deserve any more action than others is a separate story.

Leaving all that aside I think the joke is funny and we deserve it.

Tank tops? Coming soon in a range of colours: black and yellow, black and white, brown and gold and the always popular navy blue (with a hint of white).

Sorry jonesbag then we are just down to what an individual thinks is funny.

I just get a little testy with people making out the MFC is purer than the driven snow.

I hated that game against Richmond then and I still do.

It just represents every thing that was wrong with the MFC

The richmond game was horrid, I chose not to watch it and glad I made that choice. I have the feeling something like that wont happen under Neeld.

"Joke" is right.

I think the point of this thread was to let us know that you were at a Melbourne Cup Lunch.

Nah, 45. Just reflecting back the 'mood' of footy fans outside of this forum. The lunch was on a back porch with 50cent bets, a few tins of beer and a TV. Nothing fancy here. It was dorks and filth supporters who were crowing the loudest about our misfortunes. They took any opportunity to sink the boots in. But that's footy.

A poor policy that was made even worse by poor implementation.

Lame joke though. There will be much better ones coming our way I'm sure.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
