Melbourne ran their 3km run on Sat

Captain Jack grimes for no real public reason ran it at aami

Elite performance manager Dave Misson on Jack Grimes

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Co-captain Jack Grimes ran a three-km time-trial at AAMI Park.

“We got Grimsey to run a three-km at AAMI Park around the track and had a couple of people run with him and he ran a big PB (personal best) as well, so we’re really pleased,” Misson said.

As Grimes is a captain, he could have shown Cheynee Stiller around the place and as he is likely to remain captain, even stand alone captain, this sounds all true

Does anybody know something about Stiller?

Is he exactly what we need to complement our list (or are we better grabbing a youngster with the pick 88 that we got for Cale Morton)?

I presume that we can grab him as a delisted player without the draft if we so wish under this new system; should he be one of our eight selections?

We can take him at anytime up to 13 November as a delisted free agent and it won't cost us a draft pick. It will however, mean that he would take one of the spaces remaining on our list and therefore mean one less draft pick available to the club.

Forget pick 88. It's a long way beyond the horizon and would only be used by us if we make a few more delistings. In other words, we gave Morton away for nothing or simply to free up a spot on the club's lists.

Can anybody give an insight on Cheynee Stiller (delisted Brisbane Lion) who is currently training with us and should we pick him up before 13 November deadline as a delisted player. Is he likely to be better value as one of the eight places on our list (4 main list, two rookies) or should we squander that valuable No. 88 pick that West Coast gave us for Cale Morton on a kid?

Very promising early in his career after being taken by Brisbane in the rookie draft - enough to prompt the traditional cringe of 'another Melbourne supporter we missed'.

Injury plagued, hasn't had consecutive 'clear' seasons in many years, but is a solid worker and I would say a better prospect that the typical very late pick. Certainly a more mature body, obviously.

Would he be more than depth? Hard to say. Would he be really useful depth? Very likely.

No we will get a skinny kid.

But for pick 88 we could get 2 fat ladies. (Sexist comment not intended.)

Stiller is 26yrs 6 mths old. Played 3 games in 2012 and averages 15 disposals. His career average is only 17 disposals.

Plays half back. Worth a spot if they think he can play a couple years. Not really fussed either way. Although he would keep Grimes in the guts.

And we will not use pick 88 so shut up about Morton. It was effectively a delisting through the medium of another club.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
