Training - Monday 29th October, 2012

The boys are back on the track officially as from tomorrow -Dees itching to start training

I think a few of the older heads have more time under the collective bargaining agreement but we don't have that many vets at the club so there should be a good turn out of players on hand.

I suppose it would be handy to know where and when so that our regular track watchers who might have some time on their hands could have a look and provide us with their opinions as to who is going to be the club's next best thing.

With the advent of the delisted free agent, we're also likely to see a return to bygone days for a short period between 1 November and 13 November. Clubs which secure such players will be able to have them at training almost as soon as they're signed up so if you're at training, keep a watch out for any new faces.

Can't wait to see if Gysberts, Morton and Cook have put on some muscle in their time off.

I dont think many here will care as none of the aforementioned are MFC players.

Does anyone know just what time they start tomorrow?

Is it Swan Street?

Many thanks.

Mahoney said much of the first week would focus on testing and assessing players.

“Officially, we start training on Monday. But it’s also an introduction into meetings and skills,” he told melbournefc.com.au.

As far as when training starts and whether we have access, things look pretty vague.

I'm waiting for next week at the earliest.

The assessment of the players is something which the FD is not going to take lightly. I understand that this time last year there were some surprises about the results which showed up the players who hadn't placed a great amount of emphasis on their basic training programmes during the end of season break. MN has said recently that he doesn't expect any surprises this time which suggests that the club has weeded out those who aren't particularly fond of hard work.

Is dawes back yet?

Think he's still overseas. Should be back in a couple weeks along with Byrnes who is also still on holiday and Jamar who is currently on his honeymoon.

i wonder if dom barry and jack viney will start training today? if so you would think it would be a massive advantage to the other new draftees that will come in late november as they will have the extra 3 weeks

Both boys would be knee deep in Year 12 exams would they not? Be surprised to see them before later november.

Aside from Diabetes and CFS? He was sent in for some clean-up surgery after last season, before Casey played finals. This rather upset the Casey coach given he was their most productive forward.

It was his ankle, was on crutches at the B&F but said he would be ready for pre season anyway, it was just a clean up, apart from everything else that was thrown at him, he had been playing with the ankle since arriving at the club........he hopes everything is behind him now and he can finally just play footy...on the diabetes front...he has a program mapped out

He looks a very strong individual.

He has a big year coming up in his footy career...

Good luck to him.

Fitzy was at AAMI last week doing a running program, so he's up and about.

Also saw quite a turn out last Friday - Jetta, Trenners, Watts, Howe, Dunn, TMac, Nicholson, Gawny etc

I feel sorry for Joel Macdonald

Looks he will be the one who will cop the brunt of the disgruntled 'supporters' now that the aforementioned Cook, Morton and Gysberts aren't here. Hopefully Barty comes good to take some heat, although if Rodan, Peterson and Byrnes aren't in line for the Brownlow they may also cop the rough end of the stick around here......

Edit: apparently I can't spell 'Stick'

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
