First Delistings Announced

While the goal from Bartram was good, I loved the defensive pressure in that passage, the fact that for much of that game we were with the Saints. Maybe these new inclusions could get us on the door of the 8 next year!

ROUND 5 V THE SAINTS GAVE ME HOPE FOR THE SEASON IT WAS GREAT PRESSURE FOOTBALL I WATCHED IT ALL SEASON WHEN THE DEES DISSAPOINTED ME

Dees Dayz delisted after 52 years and a 12 month suspension.

Mate I feel your pain but do you really want to throw away a lifetime if support over a petty squabble on an interent forum? You're in a no-win situation - if Richmond becomes successful it will feel hollow and if Melbourne becomes successful you will regret jumping off.

You talk about the bad 'culture' of the MFC, but a good percentage of the club culture is the supporters themselves.

To be brutally honest with you, you leaving and going to Richmond is an indictment on you, that when you cop a bruise you take the easy way out. Melbourne don't need supporters like you if that's your attitude because its THAT particular attitude which was given the club and supporters a bad name of pea-hearts who run to the snow Round 3.

RR has a right to his opinion, I generally think his thoughts are ridiculous and completely obnoxious but he is entitled to them. Being a Melbourne supporter hurts, and will leave you with far more bruises than your ego but by god I cannot wait till we win a premiership so I can shove it up every single person who left us for the easy option.

I heard from a reliable source that a GWS player who is being chased by a few Victorian clubs received an offer from Melbourne in which his manager laughed at saying "it's the worst running sporting club in Australia."

So to be clear the brother of a GWS player has told you the GWS player's manager has said we are the worst run sporting club in oz. The players manager? Are you serious - what credence does the comments of player manager have?

I mean get real - who gives a flying continental about the opinions of a two bit player manager when it comes to the the management of a sporting club?

If you do then i assume you give credence to the fact that Dawes chose Melbourne rather than say the dogs. One assumes his manager would have given him some advice about how the club was run? And i heard his manager say how professional Melbourne had been throughout the negotiations. The doggies would have offered the same amount as would have the lions - and yet he chose the dees. The same goes for Clarke last year. Strange if we are so poorly run.

At least you have the good grace of not hiding your agenda - i'll give you points for that

edit: see the Velocity sports thread for examples of why it is ridiculous to put any weight on a players managers view of how to manage a sporting club

when you look at that the outs compared to to the ins it is hard to see us improve drastically on last year and beat more then three established sides. All the older recruits have massive question marks. Dawes is slow and has come of a dreadful season. Pederson couldn't get a game ahead of Robbie Tarrant....... Shannon Byrnes is getting on and will be interesting to see how he goes in a team without stars. And David Rodan got delisted from Port Adelaide. To expect anything drastic from first year players is unlikely. I honestly can't see the so called "clear sky ahead." Hopefully the club improves but gee whiz Neeld isn't mucking around. Am I the only one slightly worried about the future of our club? The list hasn't improved one bit, in fact gotten worse. I started this post trying not to be too negative (stuff it). Schwab is a cancer of the club (off topic but the rant will go on). For him to have a relationship with a senior coach that was so diabolical that they couldn't be in the same room together is unforgivable. There is something majorly wrong at Melbourne. I heard from a reliable source that a GWS player who is being chased by a few Victorian clubs received an offer from Melbourne in which his manager laughed at saying "it's the worst running sporting club in Australia." It makes sense. When you agree to sack the CEO, then in the same week give him an extension, the word professional should be immediately removed. It's amateur hour at the MFC and this trade week has done nothing to change my opinion. Did we not get screwed over in one trade?

Disagree here.

All we lost were players who couldn't get a game.

Dawes ,Pederson Byrnes and Rodan have roles planned for them.

And that's not forgetting Viney, possibly Wines, Barry and Hogan next year.

A definately improvement on the list.

Heard on the grape vine today (from an unusual source, so may not be true) that the Club is into getting Mitch Banner & Ben Warren in the upcoming delisted free agent period. I will keep my thoughts to myself on this.

If true, Awesome, lets just keep recruiting more dud players who cant get a game at Norf and Port Adelaide.

Ah yes, the old 'they can't get a game at their club, which leads to the conclusion that they are duds and we shouldn't take them'.

You must be right.

I mean, look at Sydney. They took Josh Kennedy (couldn't get a game at Hawthorn), Ben McGlynn (couldn't get a game at Hawthorn), Mitch Morton (couldn't get a game at Richmond), Ted Richards (couldn't get a game at Essendon).

That turned out so badly for them. You must be right.

And let's not forget Tom Harley who couldn't get a game at Port Adelaide or Rhyce Shaw who fell out of favour at the Filth.

There are plenty of success stories of recycled players at new clubs who were out of favour at the club they left, Just as there a storiesof big recruits who were failures.

We won't have any indication until at least 6 months time, when the new guys have a few games under their belt, how well we have done.

The main point of this post is contradicted in the first line. If we beat "3 established sides" then would have tripled our output!!!! If we beat Essendon, Carlton and St Kilda (hypothetically) along with GC, GWS, Port and the Bulldogs that would be an enormous improvement particularly with such a large turnover.

Haha no it wasn't. It was actually the players brother, hence why it is reliable

Well, the source might be reliable (in being identifiably connected with another source) but that doesn't make the information reliable.

And after that, as others have already pointed out, reliability ain't credibility.

Dees Dayz delisted after 52 years and a 12 month suspension.

All I ask is you give it one more year before you leave. Let 2013 be the year when you watch Richmond but follow Melbourne. Then if you're still unhappy you're free to go.

It think Tex has a point.

The Club should come out with a statement with a reason why each of these players were delisted.

Something like;

Petterd - Delisted due to commitment levels not meeting club standards.

Bennell - Delisted due to a weakness in his ability to get into the play and win contested football.

Bate - Delisted due to an inability to secure a position within our best 22 after 8 years of service.

and so on.

Won't happen, nor should it - why should players be humiliated with this crap

Many supporters follow players, and these supporters should be given a reason why the club choose not to re-contract players.

I believe it could be done in a tactful way.

Presumably the club has had favourable reports on Bartram regarding his new 'fatty' knees. It would be fantastic if he was able to put in a decent preseason and have his hardness once again on the field. Sadly however I doubt if fat transplants can do much about his disposal :-(((

Dees Dayz delisted after 52 years and a 12 month suspension.

Hi guys, I'm back after being suspended from this forum for 12 months.

I was suspended for disagreeing with a potential Mick Malthouse signing for 2012 as coach, which was generally supported by the lexicons of this forum.

I was further ostricised by comments I made that one could not disagree with any Rhino Richards comments who seems to be epitome of the culture of this forum ( a moderator) and perhaps the MFC.

All of that is fine!

I have been a MFC supporter since 1960 when I was 7yo. I was a gold member of MFC to 2011.

When I was tossed out of Demonland, I discussed with my wife and family what we thought the culture of MFC was, and further, how MFC relates to regional people who are not MCC members etc.

I declined membership of MFC this year while I decided exactly why I have supported the MFC for 52 years.

I will be signing up with the Richmond Football club as a member in 2013.

Obviously I won't be returning to this forum. My children and grandkids can decide who they wish to follow for themselves

Mate if you are going to quit the club because of Demonland or because it's taken you 52 years to realise we have a poor culture then off you go. Most of us have realised that, and for a long time, but we'll stick anyway cause that's what supporters do.

You want bad culture, welcome to Richmond, learn how to spit on your players first.

I meant by established teams everyone bar GWS and GC. If we beat Port and Bulldogs and maybe Essendon again then that's three wins. Remember we got beaten by the dogs and the power last year so its not a definite. It will be interesting to see if we improve for one, and whether Mark Neeld will continue to play such a negative predictable hug the boundary line style. It didn't seem to work at all. Sides aren't pressing as much with sides like Sydney excellent at breaking through the press. I want to see more attacking football and to see players express themselves and show their ability

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
