Membership 2013

Next time ill remember that the membership tread is only for positive feed back.....lol.....

P.S...... Surely Cowboy From Hell can give me a little smack as well....hehehe....

Positive feedback is one thing but choosing not to purchase memberships this year if you cant get one at the tent round 1 is another. Surely turning up to the game half an hour earlier and just waiting in the queue isn't too difficult? If you get through quickly you can even have a kick of the footy with your kids in the MCG carpark.

I'll probably just get them online.... My girls don't like kicking the footy.....

Club is hoping for 20,000 before the Xmas break and 40,000 for 2013. They're also hoping that a few wins early could get us to 45,000. Will need a committed buy in from everyone though.

HG I actually believe that there are not many over the 40K mark to buy a membership.

I reckon over the last couple of years we have had "buy in " by 95% of the possible dee members

I think that the MFC members have been very resilent over the last 5 years

I reckon that to get beyond that 40K figure we need new converts and that won't happen until we start having successful seasons.

That is playing finals.

Until then think of 40K as a very good figure

We just need to start winning, then a few more will come out of hibernation mate, all will be good. But yes the club are very lucky they've had a committed bunch of members year in year out, the club is well aware that this won't last forever.

We should be offering concession price memberships for the unemployed ,offering free memberships to the Sudanese ,Vietnamese ,New Zealand immigrants ,etc and reaching out to senior citizens and the disabled on a regular basis .

Part of the problem with our club is the old school crap that we are known for .We need to change the private image and actually embrace some of wider societies needy to ever get something back or really stand for anything but tradition.

Not trying to be too radical ,but I do think we need to look at new markets and somehow subsidise their first year as new members just to get bums on seats .

Radical on Biffen sounds like a good idea to me.

Can we can the Blazers first

lol.... My attitude is what? How? Who was complaining about the staff at the members tent? I went down to the demon shop, where I have brought my membership from before and was told that had to go to the members tent, that had no body there.... When I told them no body was there, they told me I couldn't buy memberships from them... How is that appalling or selfish? I had already renewed my own membership..... And decided a couple of days before that I'd buy my kids one each(in memory of Stynes).... Surely we should be able to buy memberships, on match day......from the tent or at the demon shop...... The staff at the demon shop, couldn't careless wether I got a membership.....

I find it extremely odd that a person who wants a membership, loves the team and shows up to games wouldn't buy one or more simply because they couldn't get it from The Demon Shop when a perfect alternative was 500m away. Boggles the mind.

A little effort and patience goes a long way. I hope someone is waiting with arms out and membership forms on a silver platter when you show up a 1/2hr before the bounce come round one next year. They just might get you on board.

lol.... Here we go again......

I originally went to the members tent and there was nobody there....... So I went down to the demon shop and they told me I couldn't buy memberships from them..... I have brought my membership from them before? I found the store attendant a little rude and very unhelpful.... I'd already had my own membership renewed.... I was simply getting memberships for my kids, in memory of Stynes.... But I've already said all this in earlier post....

I'd buy my membership from the devil himself. When theres a will theres a way.

As a student, I do struggle to justify spending X amount of money on a membership; especially when I work most weekends.

Generally it comes down to: petrol, food, gas and electricity or a Melbourne membership...

Needless to say, every winter I end up living off baked beans and mi goreng but I'll be damned if I'm not going to be a part of that 40k+ when we crack it!

Direct debit is a great option and what ot me onboard when i was a student mate, i think a GA direct debit is about 15-20 bucks a month or 5 bucks a week which is pretty duable.

Somebody's political correctness flag will probably shoot into the air - buts its a good idea, Biff.

Also Casey kids and their parents. Sydney has been filling the SCG with free passes for years.

I hope we hit a record high with members next season but I agree that it will depend on how we start the season.

I am joined up and so is the old pooch. I have a new four legged friend due to join our family in a couple of weeks and he will be a Dees supporter too.

You are a good girl and the 8 legs of your friends will have some thing to bark about next year.

North have already beaten us on this. They have great outreach in to these markets, for example: I volunteer at the asylum seeker resource centre in Melbourne and the NMFC has an education program and family days etc for the members. Been doing it for a few years. And they also have days out for all the kids/families to the footy complete with gear!

So do the Bulldogs to some extent .

But this does not stop us from actually reaching out to immigrants/the disabled ,the unemployed ,the elderly and being proactive.

A Demons shop near the gate for the Sydney flight in Auckland Airport might be the go.

I know it's scraping the barrel to offer a Kiwi admittance but I think they are the buggest population of new Australians .

I do all my Christmas shopping (wife, three kids and daughter in law, plus myself of course) with one annual 'phone call to the Melbourne Footy Club Membership Department. It punishes the credit card a bit, but I know that all the recipients value my gift more than anything else Santa could put in their stockings ....... and just as importantly, I know that all the proceeds are going to a bloody good cause ...................... I can't wait for the day when I can use premiership memorabilia as 'stocking fillers'.

Ok so tonight the subject was raised and little to my understanding and a few others the club does offer pet memberships. A few people expressed interest and if you have a spare $35 the options there for you. Cheers.

My L/H German Shepard is a "pet Demon".....He hides when the Dee's are playing....Doesn't like shouting/swearing/throwing things at the TV.....

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
