FAREWELL CALE MORTON

I don't belong to twitter.

What did the tweet say that you posted. Is that the terminology?

Must have been very effective?

If you wrote something on the tweet that outlined this farce then yes it's trolling. If not then move on and enjoy.

In fact move on and enjoy anyway. Love to see what will come of this and how far the media take it.

My brother flew to Thailand today via Perth and told me that Cale Morton was on his flight. You story does check out...!

I thought nothing of it until a guy my mate follows on Twitter, posted a photo of Morton 200ms from Eagles HQ.

He heard him on the phone saying "It went well, I guess. We'll see what happens."

if it goes well then we have to get something decent in return, he was a no. 4 pick even though he was spineless.

Don't count on that 3rd rounders is all Weagles likely to cough up.

Folks you have to quit with the " he was ab4 pick" etc. it's like buying a car , drops value the second you've picked them. It's all relative. A market value is resultant upon what anyone wants to pay, whether that's housing, cars or even footy players.

Be nice to get their 41 but doubt they'll cough that.

I seriously think many teams just have to realise that with so many teams, so many compo picks that they just need to adjust. Of course o one really wants to do that , they know it, just want the others to, not themselves lol

What's the point if it's pick 61 in return? If we are going to do it, I'd rather a pick upgrade, though if the incoming pick was used on Pedersen then they can jam the whole thing.

Guest José Mourinho

I understand the circumstances surrounding this, but the fact he is actually there makes you ponder a potential trade...

But why would MFC trade for picks 61 or 62, neither of which we'd be likely to use?

Bunkum.

I object to the troll call. I took a legit photo, put it on twitter and let others make up rubbish about it. I asked Jay Clark that as a serious question.

If that's trolling count me out.

This is comical and in spite of your posts, it continues to grow legs.

I suppose a lot of posters have you on ignore, or cant read

With a quick google search I managed to find your twitter feed and the original post. You were having a laugh with some mates before and after about whether dud journalists would pick this up and run with it. Absolute pisser that they have and that they clearly didn't do a basic search like I did and see your whole plan to suck them in. Even funnier that its Jay Clark! Classic! Well played sir

Does anyone else want to see Morton have an uninterrupted run at a Misson preseason? He is just 22.

i agree with this is is still very young and was injured this year.

Ive seen him play some pretty good games and rack up the numbers.

'Trolling' gets thrown around more than 'Moneyball' lately...

I think you 'trolled' Clark, or HUN journalism in general, into writing an article based purely on your tweet.

But that would be the only way.

And what crap did he add to that story.

Pick 61?

Journos, and you hear this quite a bit on TWR, engage in Draft Pick Porn and constantly measure players in pick ranges.

Wallace: 'He's more of a Pick 45-50. No more than that.'

Barrett: 'So, Pick 54 get it done?'

Wallace: 'I would think so.'

Barrett: 'There you have it. The List Manager will be back with a scientific analysis of a couple clubs he had a look at on Footywire this morning. You are listening to TWR. And you are bashing your head against your desk...'

This can happen when a player is young and developing or overcoming injury

Can't say I am unhappy to see Morton looking for opportunity elsewhere. I am one who thought he had all the qualities of being an exceptional player, but he has worn out any kudos he might have earnt through lack of application. He goes down n history as another naturally gifted player who couldn't make the leap from being a great junior into a consistent AFL performer.

However, MFC's dysfunctional player development over the past decade probably contributed.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
