I read on Demonland somewhere (sorry cannot remember where) that Carlton mentioned Watts in a hypothetical with MFC and we said he is absolutely untouchable. It did however get me wondering as to what my Demonland brethren would be willing to trade him for.

btw I am expecting responses ranging from the HF line of the All Australian team to a new bugle for the bugle boy but what the hey.

In the words of Star Wars from Obi Wan Kenobi ..." you were the chosen one".

Jack Watts was our messiah. A key fwd with the blone movie star looks. We imagined a Nick Riewoldt type with class, and kicking goals as a premier forward. Jack is now a drifting half back, pushed aside in a contest by Swan, Petrenko and Deledio in one on ones.

Jack has that word POTENTIAL so if we get for a 1st round draft pick, say 12-18 pick would be sufficient.

From Carlton? Chris yarren

Firstly that's not funny, Yarran is crap.

Watts is a gun... he played some real Goddard like football this year.

Would not want to trade him!

I would honestly trade pick 4 and Watts for Cotchin.. thats it

Yarran is very far from crap. Absolute silk coming out of the Carlton backline and probably their most talented player. I'd do that trade.

But back to the hypothetical question in the OP ... I'm on record as saying I'd trade Watts for a package Carlton's pick 11 AND Mitch Robinson.

He will be a seriously good player, so theres not much you can offer to be honest.

Cotchin, Dangerfield thats about it

This must be an example of a Lance Armstrong suspension.

So over rated

Only thing i would consider from carlton would be Murphy and even then i would have to think long and hard.

So we trade our most talented player for theirs?

Mitch "choose the contest" Robinson, you have to be joking.

What part of "AND pick 11" didn't you understand?

Robinson is as tough as they come and while not A-grade, is a definite step for us and would walk straight into our side. Who are you kidding?

Currently I agree, but not sure for how long, J.Viney, N. Jones, J. Grimes, J. Mckenzie and even J. trengove, I could see him slowly being pushed out of our midfield! Optimism, or a few beers, either way I am starting to like the look of our list.

Having said that watts is going to be a star, and is easily our best user of the ball, so give me Murphy from Carlton and they can have watts. Other than that no dice.

Watts is going to be a gun, no matter where he plays, we have no doubt a 200-250 gamer no worries

I just don't see the justification for the words 'gun' and 'star' for Watts given what he's dished up so far. You're seeing something I'm not MM.

Hard to see how you couldn't see the potential in him this year, and I think he definitely benefited from the stint in the back line. I could probably slot potential in front of gun or star but I'm just going all out haha! I guess we just see different things, considering he is a fourth year key position player, his progress has been on the up, I see big things for him and I definitely see him having great potential. Like I said I can see him being a 200-250 gamer no worries, all Australian and if I'm really hopeful a premiership player

Watts is one of the only players we have who can kick the footy. I know he is no pack marking machine who eats metal and drinks diesel but he is our version of Matt suckling

Suckling was a rookie and Watts was a pick one investment, which is the footballing tragedy.

The rose coloured glasses that many supporters use to view Watts is one of life's great mysteries. We all know he has talent and skill, but some us also know that he has no appetite for finals type contested footy.

who's the happy-looking kid on the left of the photo?

Thats some guy who was Max Gawns Dietary assistant at the club .

He has left us for a role as Chinese Ambassador for Rooty Hill.

Two 1st Rnd Picks for next year, one a top 10 pick, & the other top 20.

Thanks Biffo. I thought it might be the club's social director. He looked so happy

If Mitch Robinson ever stepped foot inside the MFC, I would vomit and immidiately stop supporting us.

Biggest. [censored]. Ever!

I'm not seeing the word sensible or credible for Range Rover for the crap he has dished up thus far

Robinson would get a game for us agreed, but the tough hard at it reputation he has is not always the case. He does pick and choose in a marking contest, he's not Jonathan Brown or big Mitch who probably for their own and everyone else's safety should back off at times.

I re read it by the way and you were talking about Yarran as a swap not Yarran and pick 11, so my point stands, their classiest player for ours. I certainly wouldn't put Robinson in that field.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
