Wellingham/Dawes super trade (scuppered)

The only way that this trade makes ANY sense to me is if Collingwood give their first round pick as well in the deal. Or some other combination of pick swapping. Surely MFC is not stupid enough to consider this otherwise. Surely.

Marked. I think it's overs but I could live with that.

Likewise, 13/14 for Wellingham and Martin for Dawes. 13/14 for Wellingham is overs but Stef for Dawes is about right. Would make big Q their FF and Stef their back up ruck, which if I was I Pies fan I'd prefer. Lynch doesn't have the mobility to be their back up ruck and would be much more useful to them on the lead.

I'll take that deal.

Don't fall for it. Obviously wishful thinking from Collingwood!

No,No! a thousand times NO! We MUST get two high quality young MID FIELDERS in this draft. Nothing less will do. Wellingham has proven ability and could be useful, BUT, if Melbourne doesn't interest him then he can move back to the West and join the Weagles.

Dawes and welli will be at MFC this week. Pick 13 and stef Martin.

Mark my words

So that's you on record stating pick 4 for Caddy and pick 13 and Martin for Dawes and Wellingham?

13 and Martin for Dawes and Wellingham I could get used to...

PS I'd hate to have you part of my crew if we were in the mob. You'd be known as "Timmy the Squeeler" lol

Geoff Walsh has confirmed that the MFC has put pick 4 on the table for Dawes and wellingham!

When and where did he confirm that?

I still don't get why we would force Wellingham to come to Melbourne when he doesn't want to?

What's the point?

We are a joke if we trade pick 4 for these two.

It reeks of short term gain to bolster Neeld's win-loss ratio. What a disgrace.

It was on one of the Facebook trade pages claiming that Geoff Walsh has confirmed thismorning the only Place I can think he may have actually confirmed this is SEN or another radio station perhaps?

No Way. Not even if we don't have to use pick 3 on Viney. if we do this I'll be mad as hell. It does smell of desperation.

This is absolute lunacy, and IF confirmed as in above info from Jonesbag and in link to another thread "Is your support of MFC unconditional"?

Not if this trade ensues!

What is going on?

He simply said Melbourne were interested, did not mention pick 4 whatsoever.

That makes more sense cheers

So many seem jumpy and adding 3 and 5 and getting 27

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

Failed to fulfill the promise of his breakout six goal effort against the Tigers in 2023 and was generally disappointing as a key forward. It remains to be seen whether Simon Goodwin will persevere with him in attack or return him to the backline where he was an important cog in the club’s 2021 premiership success. After a bright start to the season, playing mostly in defence, Howes seemed to lose his way in midseason but fought back with some good performances at Casey and finished the year back at AFL level. Originally an NBL basketballer with the Brisbane Bullets, he moved across town in 2019 to the AFL Lions where he played 19 games before crossing to Melbourne where he was expected to fill a role as a back up ruckman/key forward. Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. His loss to the club was inestimable over and above his on field talent given his character and leadership qualities, all of which have been sorely missed. The son of former Demon Brownlow Medalist Shane, Taj added a further 16 games to his overall tally of games but a number were as substitute.
