Strange article... To me it sounds as though he explains that each club will get one pick (or perhaps more) based on the net gain/loss in FA. But he then goes on and allocates a pick per player, while also mentioning that Moloney's pick is lessened because of the Byrnes signing.. I bet he has no idea.

Yes, it's basically completely open. GWS holds the mini-draft picks in their hands and can trade them for whatever they wish. If they don't get traded, their wasted basically.

I think the report was: Picks 5 and 6 (WB) to GWS Dom Tyson to Richmond MD1 and Pick 9(Rich) to WB This might've been debunked since reported though. Tyson sent a tweet saying hes more than happy at the Giants.

While I would much rather being able to keep this pick and Viney to come in the 2nd round, I have a strong feeling that as it stands GC will bid their pick 2. This deal is a big improvement on that, so I would be happy enough. Gee, it would be a shame if the two clubs agreed to this, they let Viney slip through and then Josh decides he doesn't want to go to us... terrible really.

Well, if the alternative is that GC bid on Viney, it effectively becomes Pick 26 for Caddy. JV at 3: Pick 4, 13, 26 JV at 26: Pick 3, 13, Caddy

The only way that this trade makes ANY sense to me is if Collingwood give their first round pick as well in the deal. Or some other combination of pick swapping. Surely MFC is not stupid enough to consider this otherwise. Surely.

Could this be a ploy in order to get loud mouth Eddie on our side to stop GC from bidding on JV? And then leave Colliwobbles high and dry afterwards? Wishful thinking perhaps.

The F/S nominations are done at the very start of trade period, I believe. So if we commit to him at Pick 3, that is it. We no longer have Pick 3 but we have JV.

Another quick question: Why is it that if we don't have to use pick 3 on Viney, we get him with Pick 26? I thought if someone bids Pick 6-12 on him, we would have to use our next pick, pick 13?

Perhaps he was born in '66?

Love to see Nicholson and Bail (if he's ready) in to finish out the year. Davey is definitely gone (not complaining), Sylvia may get off?
