Small forward who can't crack it in the Brisbane team at the moment and has to compete with Zorko and Green for the small forward role. Plays his role well and has pace. Anyone want him?

I'd love him but I don't think the lions would want to let him go. We'd probably pay a high price, as I think he is a much better player than both of Zorko and Green.

I still think he is rated pretty highly up here by the Lions. He is a good little small forward, but lets himself down with his set shots sometimes. If he were available at a decent price I definitely wouldn't be against it, but as I said, I still think he is well and truly in their plans.

Obviously Brisbane dont think he is

I like him as a player, he has played 7 games this year... not sure if he's been troubled by injury or not. If he's not cracking a regular game and wants out I wouldn't be offering more than a 3rd rounder. But as already been mentioned above I don't think the Lions would give him up that easily.

I liked him too. I thought he would be one to take a step forward, but it's pretty competitive for spots up there now with Greene doing ok. They've got guys from their mids who can go forward too and prove a handful like Rockliff.

I reckon your offer might be about right. 2nd or 3rd round or player.

I wouldn't dismiss him. Sometimes a change of scenery can do wonders and while we're bereft of small forwards clearly Brisbane are ok in this regard. Zorko has been a revelation and Green is a talent, so it's not so easy to cement a spot.

Banfield has kicked 56 goals from 48 games, which is a good start to a career.

He's a good suggestion and someone well worth enquiring about.

Yep..another one from Brisbane i would have.

Has a really good game to him and runs well around the ground as well as snapping a goal here and there.

Have a crack at Rockliff while we are at it if hes not contracted.

But yeah Banfield would be a good addition...get in his ear Mitch!

It must have been last year or the year before that every time I saw him he seemed to be tearing teams a new one in the forward line. He's exactly what we need gathering the crumbs at Mitch Clark's feet.

He's a swan districts product so no argument from me

The club still seems reluctant to budge on Davey being the No.1 small forward so we'll see how it pans out. I like him though and I think with Adam Cockie could be a decent pair in the forward line. Aaron can thus be released to HBF and use his kicking prowess to the teams benefit!

Posted

Would love him at the Dees. Not sure why he isn't getting a game this year, but his first two year have been good. He has had big impact on a number of games I've seen him play, has pace to burn, crumbs and snaps well, and even roamed up the ground all the way to half back to provide run when needed.

I'd give up anything after pick 20 for him. People overrate draft picks. What's our 2nd rounder? Low 20s? Deal done. Small forward with great pace sorted for 10 years.

Davey only a stop gap now. Best years behind now.

Not sure, but the nature of this thread irks me...oh hang on, now I know why, we don't need another dud blocking up spots on our list!

He would be the best small forward on our list if we got him.

Far better small forward than any prospects on our list and has a lot of pace, which we so desperately need. It would definitely be a step in the right direction and I would happily give many of our players over for him.

So who do you propose to fill the small forward role who could be a reasonable target then?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
