WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES

I'd never ever trust Carlton. What they say and what they do, well........

They would have happily taken Cloke, so place absolutely no value on words coming from visa park !! They lie and cheat you know !!! Lol

As do the Pies. they need him off their books. Dogs have offered 27, we have 20 and may want to keep that. Swap with Martin still looks good for Pies who get their ruckman/forward. Otherwise if Gysberts goes that should be another second rounder as will Rivers/Moloney FA comp if they can do their deals. Maybe even Petterd and a late pick could do the deal. He has had good games against them.

Why not just keep Martin and play him forward. Grab Pederson with a third rounder. We can then use pick 20 for best available. I would keep Gysberts as well. He has one more year on his contract and we have very few options for delisting in 2013 (Read Contracts thread). Gysberts may well be the big improver after another pre-season.

I reckon Gysbert's had his cards marked. He's going unless he could convince Neeld he is ready to go for it 100%. Sad given he went number 11 but there is it is.

Who? Prizefixer Park.

One Daw opens & whilst other Dawes shut.

I've lost interest in Daw's, he's not that good, & whinges onfield, squibs to the umps & carries on.

We can do better.

Dawes is a big lump whose main attribute is that he requires a big defender to be played on him. Therefore less chance to double team a good forward, ie Clark.

He'll have his odd day out. So did Ben Holland.

Surely there are other big lumps available, who won't require pick 20.

Jesse White - a lesser player but serves that role perhaps?

im really starting to lean towards the 'adequate' lump scenario .

IT is interesting, if we can get pederson at a compo pick or 3rd rounder, then that means we can still attack the draft hard for mids at picks 4 and 20, which is great. Also pederson can play the second ruck better than Dawes can leaving Clark and eventually Hogan always forward with Pederson floating. Pederson is the more versatile player imo, who can last after Hogan comes one.

I think Dawes value to us weakened once the Viney pick Hogan selection all panned out as we had hoped 2014 Clark Hogan.

Dont HAVE to get A Dawes now...just a decent lump as Fidge outlined above.

Of course if we got him inexpensively...well..:)

Listening to Barrett on trade radio (I know...) we are moving toward a deal for Pedersen.

If we get Pedersen we would surely not get Dawes. And also Sellar would be nervous being OOC.

Pedersen can play both ends and is more agile and adaptable than Dawes.

ie. You can push him back if Hogan and Clark is enough in the forward line.

i will be disappointed if we miss out on dawes. Would love to see him and Mitch up forward next year until Hogan finally comes in.

Surprised he would choose the dogs over the dees.. the dogs list is even worse than ours!!

I think Neeld savours a degree of versatility. He assigns roles and demands they are carried out but I get he impression he likes players that can do a number of roles; one primary and a fill-in.
