Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Well Done Nathan Jones: 14 Brownlow Votes

Great effort Jonesy and there were many calling for him to be traded a couple of seasons ago, let that be a lesson to all on this forum who slag off our young players at every opportunity.

Some very good kids on our list and some good honest footballers, once we sort out the mix we will get there.

Again great effort Jonesy it's a tribute to your dedication and efforts

I love it when people use isolated examples and give it a broader meaning without providing any content, or substance.

Jones has improved his game markedly and is playing like a round one draft pick should; and we also have a number of players on our list that will be culled at season's end, because they don't cut the mustard.

Jones win in the B&F and excellent showing in the Brownlow is evidence of nothing more than his improvement and good year. To extrapolate anything more than that is self-serving shadow boxing.

You could see that he was a player that would never accept the staus quo of the club and consistently pushed himself out on the ground, often beyond his abilities and to his detriment in the short term. He would often run himself into trouble, choose a low percentage option or put himself under pressure. Now I believe he is reaping the rewards of of pushing the envelope, having fine tuned his game, he is now capable of attacking football that not many of our list are.

He is a player that takes responsibilty, is physically durable and a hard worker. He was always going to succeed.

Among claims that he would never be anything but a C grader, is too slow, with poor disposal I always believed differently.

Nathan Jones plays to win games of football, he an a select couple of others will be the ones to drag this club upward, hopefully

Great effort by Jones. He had a great year and it's good to see him get some recognition outside the club for his hard work. Let's hope he can keep up this kind of form for many years, and he has some friends who pick up some slack!

Caps off a fantastic year. Considering the team won a total of 4 games I thought this was an incredible effort.

It was obvious he would top the polling for us, but 14 was more votes than I thought. Well done Jonesy.

Hard to believe some posters in Demonland gave him the same treatment as Cale Morton few years ago........

Ive been wanting to 'bump' that thread from 2010 for a year now..

Sorry BH but it aint shadow boxing it is stating a fact, Jones was a whipping boy for many and has applied himself and been in the system since 2006 so it's taken 6 years to get to this level, but he has not just turned things around overnight, he has actually made gradual progression.

Similar to Jobe Watson who was an Essendon whipping boy for a long time as well. Both have improved their fitness levels to be able to reduce the fatigue on their bodies and have the ability to run games out better. With all that comes belief and confidence.

Trenners is being slagged off by many who are saying he is slow and a waste of a first round pick, Grimes has for the first time got his body right and put games together and showed a bit in the second half of the season.

Both these guys have the will to succeed and like Jonesy will put the effort to get where they need to.

Basically what I am saying is demonlanders should think about the players they are slagging off because development takes longer in some than others. Our list is not full of lost causes

No-one to take votes off him.

Pitiful, but nothing we didn't know.

mods- once again, the "dislike" button desperately needed.

I agree with all of that, but for every Watson there are ten that get delisted. It's not the norm. You were painting a broader picture that I didn't agree with.

Let's hope the penny drops with Gysberts (if he stays on the list) because he's a classic case of a talented player not working hard enough.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
