It's an opinion. As valid as anyone else's. More than most in fact as a lot of what I say is proven to be correct.

Jurrah has ties to Collingwood through Rudeboy, Rupe Betheras and his previous stint there and they will be in the market for a key forward for '013. Also recently did an interview with Eddie McGuire without informing the MFC first.

Watch this space.

Not to mention if Jurrah does go to Collingwood he won't have to change his colours if he goes to jail.

I can only presume ( read fervently hope ) that the reason the Club hasnt uttered a word is because they are keeping their powder dry at present.

There something very very wrong about all this. I can sense the club is seething.

Im so tempted to utter some words but ill take the cue of the club and remain quietly unamused.

The article says they "met with him"... I thought he was in Adelaide?!

What, Melbourne has spoken with him?

I responded to someone crticising the club for no website statement.

I don't know who has spoken to Liam.

But I know we'll be all the better once this off season is done & sorted. It's going to be one huge Dust Storm over the coming 2 months.

Lying about your intentions is one definition of professionalism in the AFL....Thomson,Hird,Malthouse .etc...now LJ or his manager

"The club will continue to provide personal support for Liam" Well we should start by persuading him to stay instead of him giving away his talent by not playing anymore or moving to Port Adelaide. I wish for his to get back on track, I'd love to think playing for us will help him and he is so talented. It's a sad day if we are never going to this entity of a genius never play in the red and blue again.

i couldnt give a stuff personally as i have grown to have a cold heart as a melbourne supporter, with all the rotten things that have happened to us over the years.

I just feel bad for my son, who has had posters of Moloney and Jurrah all over his wall, and before that Scully.

I cant bring myself to tell him about Jurrah, as he only took the moloney poster down last night after hearing he was leaving.

Has Jurrahs number on his jumper too.

A team desperate for stars, young supporters desperate for heroes, but maybe there are no heroes? Maybe the lesson is to not take AFL too seriously as it only brings heartache, especially if you are a melbourne supporter.

Deezee I feel your pain. My son was a huge fan of Jurrah until tonight when I explained what had happened. His responce to me was can I throw my jersey, which has #24 on it in the bin. Poor litle bugger is not a happy camper tonight and I dont blame him.

To be honest it [censored] me off when i heard the news too.

Reckon his manager may have failed to mention that LJ would play in Adelaide in 2014 not 2013...

Paul, I reckon if it's not 2013, it may well be 2016 onwards.

Due to racial tension in the Alice possibility jail time might be served in adeliade then port might be a good fit

I bloody hope not. Can't someone keep their first number and build some damn history in it for once? 38 is Jeremy Howe.

I'm not sure how high it starts, but don't you get offered a lower number (30 or under I assume) once you're considered entrenched in the team? Maybe 38 was his first choice though.

Dont know what rate he is growing at but the number 24 doesnt stay vacant long of late

This line looks like it has been wordsmithed by the AFL rather than the MFC

How is lying a 'definition'? Lying in this situation is stupid given that if he tries to go to Adelaide or Port Adelaide in 2013 he will need our agreement for a trade.

Although you wont see Liam play AFL again.

Theres so many of lifes lessons all wrapped up in this . I empathise. Kids love heroes, they yearn the unbeleivable , its a kids way.

Let him grieve, then take him to the clubs family day . Let him immerse himself in those that ARE the club. get him fornt and centre with the likes of Grimes, Trenners..Clark..Jones. Buy him a new jumper. He'll survive... we all do :)

You must be, because all I feel is dread that he'll tear it apart at Adelaide or Port next year, while we continue to rot at the bottom of the ladder with our mostly talentless list, and our lack of forwards.

Friggin horray!

Edit: if he was walking away from footy, I'd say "fair enough". It's been a tough road for him, and he's in for a whole lot more pain. But to walk away from our club, after everything we have done for him, is just too hard to swallow.

If he is still contracted to us, then Port or the Crows would have to get him from us one how, presumably with a trade if they think he is worth the risk.

He cannot surely just turn up and play AFL with them.............maybe he will play SANFL.

One would have to say, if in fact he wants to play for Port or Crows, not a great deal of gratitude for all that we have put into him both on and off the field.

Are you for real? Liam was a likely trade or delist at the end of this season. Liam had talent no doubt but since the 'incident' he hasnt exactly set the training track on fire from what we hear and had minimal impact even at VFL level. Liam's style is all talent with no accountability - prettymuch the opposite of the Neeld direction.

Jurrah was talented and had an x factor but he was hardly an a-grader or a genius.

And I doubt given what has happened this year and how much impact his personal circumstance had on his playing and application this year that Port or Adelaide will go near him sadly.

No, he could just go into the PSD or rookie draft where no club other than Adelaide or Port would touch him with a 60ft. pole

Wonder if Howe will get Number 24 now? Join the other famous highlight reel from Tassie.

I sincerely hope not.

Howe has so much more to his game than Robbo ever did. Let him be himself. If they want him to honor a gret number howe about 31, to erase the memory of the $cumbag who wore it last.

And after all, Liam was only ever half the player wearing 24 that he was wearing 48!

Are you sure about that?

Are you sure?? Who were the other "candidates" who were actually interviewed?? eh?

We panicked into picking Neeld! Go over the facts as reported in press recently and you will see this. Respect must be earnt and not saying he can't coach but I don't like sugar coating the reality of what is becoming a very fragile environment!

Yep joins a celebrated coaching fraternity. Look into the record books and see some of our coaches that were were failures pure and simple!

Well... do you know who else was interviewed? You make assumptions left, right and centre.

It's not a fragile environment - it's largely a group of footballers who have been taught not to work hard and get by through doing "just enough". The ones who want to go, or who will be let go, are players who don't have the capacity to work hard and do the things needed to become part of the club going forward.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
