Mad Monday

if i was a player i'd be keeping it low key and certainly a long way away from the public

That might just be the case after this week DC. Don't they have their individual season reviews and medicals all this week? I'd imagine a few home truths will be bouncing off the walls in "The coach's office" this week. Would love Robbo to leave his camera rolling so we can have a listen to what is said!

I'm on the fence with this Mad Monday stuff. When I played footy, we always treated it as a celebration for either making the finals, or winning the flag (not that I did the latter). I think there was one year where we didn't make finals, so we just had a bbq and a few beers on the Sunday at the club. While it's a long year and you train hard for a long time, there's nothing to celebrate when you don't make finals.

The thing for me is that they are employees of our club. If their boss (Neeld), is happy for them to be tearing it up in Thailand, then we have to go along with it. I think the AFLPA have a rule in place that preseason isn't to start before a certain date, but I'd imagine Neeld and Misson will be putting in high expectations of the level of fitness that the players will be required to return to the Club at from day 1. I would also imagine that reaching these levels will be hard if you go on multi-day benders at the Full Moon parties, etc.

Will be interesting to see how Trengove goes, considering he's one that is going to Thailand I believe. Not sure how many other AFL captains do that? Can't see Grimes doing it.

Oh let them have a day out.

If it is next monday so be it.

7 - 8 will be having their fair well drink and another 5 - 6 will be having their second last end of season MFC party.

They are only fellow humans must have been very trying playing for the Dees this year as it was very trying to watch.

I am of a similar opinion, give the a day or a week, but when they return from their break they should be in the same condition they left in, and ready for a grueling pre-seaon if you do that then do what you want on Monday ect

Have we seen any issues in the last couple of years with the players playing up on a Mad Monday, no, hands up posters who never played up in their twenties, the game has changed, the players know that, if you want a career.... you have to behave

As for Trengove going to Thailand, jeezus, last year we had Club Captains in Bali, Vegas etc etc...... it is a holiday, and Jack Trengove hardly drinks anyway...he is from a family of athletes

I'm preparing for the worst possible news to come our way... Clark and Jones locked up... In a Bangcock prison, looking at life, for killing Tom McDonald and Jeremy Howe. Moloney knuckles down, signs 3 year deal.

If that happens then I'll dead-set spew up!! I can't handle watching Moloney play in a Melbourne jumper again...

boom boom tish

You've been a wonderful crowd

few of the boys are off to thailand and bali and to attend the infamous full moon party..

Great!

I can see a few broken legs, some spiked drinks and a few drunken brawls headlining the off-season.

I think I'm OK with it, But After the assessments are finished & players know where they stand with their report & what they need to do to achieve.

This can have a bearing on their mindset, going toward the pre season.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
