Is Howe the best contested mark you've seen?

Jokes aside, his marking is creating a genuine buzz amongst footy followers everywhere. Amidst debates about how the MFC can attract younger fans, a guy like Jezza is like a gift from above...where he spends alot of his time, incidentally.

Not sure about best ever, but it's bloody nice to have a bloke (or two - Clark) who you can almost actually rely on to take contested marks. It's not a luxury we've had a lot of in the last couple of years.

Don't agree. Certainly best spekkie mark I can remember in 60 years of football. I think he still drops a few he should hold and some guys don't. Some guys standing toe to toe shoulder to shoulder never drop a ball and never get out bussled. But its absolutely fun having him in our side.

What we have here, ladies and gentlemen, is an honest to god FOOTBALLER. Yes, you heard it. A footballer at the MFC. He can mark it, he can kick it AND (now this is key) he will bloody shepherd for you once he gives you the ball.

Can take a hanger too. Very nice. I'd love to see him, Clark and Jurrah all fit and firing in the forward line, although I'm worried that Clark is going to kill a few of his team-mates unlucky enough to drift into his path next year. Can someone allay my concerns in that regard?

Also, add Cloke and we go from the worst forward line in years (ie the one we fielded today) to perhaps our best ever.

Agree. He's single-handedly negating the membership drain our appalling form is no doubt creating.

What would be really nice, though, to create some real membership drive, is to get Jurrah back and taking MOTY contenders, and Clark fit and busting packs a la Neitz in his prime. Now that forward line would get the kids putting on Demons jumpers again.

Also, having Jack "a more violent Sam Mitchell" Viney leaving bodies in his wake as he bursts forward to deliver to these three wouldn't hurt either.

No but he most go close at the moment.

Certainly has the prize at the MFC

Today I did not see him drop a mark.

When the ball hits his hands it is all over.

Clunk Stuck there.

Melbourne tend to recruit good ,exciting speccy-takers like Lord Howe but he has a bit more going for him than some .

Robbo ,Smith et al were good old fashioned forwards that loved a hanger but Jeremy has it all.

Great news today on his signing-Although he still has to beat Smith for the mark of the century .

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
