Nathan Buckley got 1 week for the same offence a few years ago. Would be interesting but not surprising if Howe gets more. Buckley led a charmed life with the tribunal and always got off until this incident. The bio mechanics expert witnesses couldn't help him with this one. Stupid fool Jeremy, why not just wipe some snot on him?

Pretty shite form by Howe, what was he thinking. Given the MRP's current form wouldn't be surprised if he went for 2-3.

Surely wiping blood on shorts (Howe, MFC) is less bad than wiping it on a jumper (Buckley, CFC - 1 week)!!!

I haven't seen the footage, but was it from his face or his hands?? The precedent as I recall was face to jumper.

Sounds like a stupid act though.

Buckley was directed to leave for the blood rule by the umpire during a stoppage. Some harsh words were then exchanged between Buckley and Ling. Buckley wiped him as he started to walk off.

I think either Ling gave Buckley the blood nose or Ling dobbed Buckley in to the umps for it getting him sent off.

Either way Buckleys thinking was "If I'm going off, your coming with me."

Howe was about 12 and living in a sleepy tassie town when Buckley did this.

I wouldn't read too much into that, it's a clear situation where the MRP doesn't have a formula to work with so rather than just trying to make something up they've sent it to the tribunal to be argued.

Haven't seen any of the game, and obviously the incident, but jeez what a dumb thing to do. I imagine he'll get some time off and cop an absolute spray from Neeld because it's these kinds of undisaplined acts that hurt the team. Especially when our forward line is so depleted, and our team devoid of people that can take a mark.
