Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Missing the point here, 35 goals in 25 games!!!!

Do the homework and see for yourself,

While others were kept, others with very modest records were retained!

Worse thing is I reckon he would be a shoe in this season

Pity... eh?

Oh and in response to

Pink Floyd. Mr Dark Side of the Moon....

If any mentioned would be better then thrill me with your acumen, facts, stats, etc so a reasonable debate can ensue,eh! then why arent they producing?? Eh

Clearly, you have won all arguments with the oft repeated single stat of 35 goals in 25 games (over 18 years...)

Fact: he was given a lot of chances and was on our list for many years.

Fact: if he's so good, why wasn't he picked up by another club, partic the new franchises which are crying out for experience?

Fact: 35 goals in 25 games is not as good a return % as Clark, Jurrah, Howe. And they've been around the club for less than 7 yrs.

Fact: Juice was not the quickest or smartest of players and the game is not getting any slower.

But I guess that any form of reason wouldn't convince you...

Should never 'ave arrived!

I think thats the problem Never arrived

in six years 35 for 25 aint that spectacular

would rather have seen Howe leaping at FF rather than gathering in defense, mid and hf.

we really did miss Mitch and the game plan needing someone to hit the pack make a contset and create space just diddnt work without him.

BUT dont think juice is the answer

Never seen such a hot and cold player at Melbourne. Still better than PJ though.

always thought PJ would have been good as a tall soccer striker heading the ball into the net, never seemed to actually put his arms up in the air when trying to mark the pill...

Nice to see some "astute" observations weed eater! Yeah probably because he had stress fractures in his foot might just explain why you didn't see him after the early rounds last year!

Oh and one other thing...

35 goals in 25 games er, can you define anyone else in the past 6 or so years who had a better average??

Now be careful because only a few can lay claim to those figures for Melbourne!

AND finally who would you rather in the forward line at present

Sellar?

Martin?

Magner?

Dunn?

what about Spencer?

Never ever was given an extended run is my point of view and for reasons other than ability times he would have been picked if not for injury remains and probably will now pass into "What if" Pity!

C'mon rollem out and please do, do your homework! before posting again.

We all must do our homework in a similar fashion to Mr Picket before posting. Also to remember to post comment favourable to Mr. Picket

I didn't think that this was a serious thread until it got to page 2!

Juice has played 8 games at Norwood for 19 goals. He has not been a "regular" until the last few weeks. Luke Jericho & Simon Phillips lead Norwood's goal kicking list. Perhaps we should recruit them? The leading possession getter for Sturt in the Norwood-Sturt game in which Juice kicked 4 goals was one R Tambling; perhaps we should recruit him?

There are a couple of "moneyball" players from Norwood who represented the SANFL V WAFL: Batsanis from Port Melbourne & Georgiou. There's also this kid called James Aish. If no-one's noticed him, the Demons should nab him. But I think that we'll have to "tank" for the next two years to have a chance.

It is a Grand Old Flag! Go Dees & Legs

I too thought this was going to be a joke until I started reading it. If nothing else, Juice did provide a lot of forum banter and laughs over the journey. And by the looks of it, he is the forum gift that just keeps giving, even after being delisted.

Thanks Norwood demon, I actually think he has been playing at CHB for the last three weeks and before that kicked 6 or so.

Returned Forward this week and kicked 4 from limited opportunities if my mail is correct.

Look I'll say it one last time, I don't think he ever got an extended run and always seemed to be first axed if team performed poorly.

Part of grooming a player is the "Belief" and I don't reckon whether he deserved it or not he or the selectors ever had enough belief.

Will now become a historical part of player history but I will always wonder what he would have been like if playing at a Geelong for example given an extended run in a team that had sillky delivery forward. I hark back to his Cameo Vs North last year, led out fast and looked like a world beater as key forward before being required to chop out in ruck for Jamar. Should have been left key forward and as result of being required to ruck probably hastened the stress fractures which ultimately finished him after some good performances v Carlton and St Kilda last year and led to his delisting.

Over and out!!

Fence, whilst I applaud you bringing your crusade to a new forum, it still does not change the fact that you are tilting at windmills still....Juice was a pea hearted hack that had far to long a run on our list than he really deserved. He never got an extended run because he was lacking one vital ingredient in the make up of a successful footballer...heart.

Newton at Geelong still would have been a pea heart, no matter what the delivery forward was like.....he just would have had a few more chance to shirk it than he did with us is all.

Guest Jackie

Wish we still had him. The current whipping boys in perhaps our most lamentable ever season do not offer enough satisfaction no matter how vigorous the flogging.

In the absence of any common sense forward structure at Melbourne then why not?Lets redraft next year?! eh?

And I say this because Neeld refuses, REFUSES to play No 1 pick Jack Watts in forward line when really, all is lost this season and golden opportunity presented today as it has at other times this season.

Don't give me the spiel that Garland and Rivers are the answer either because as proved today goals are easy against Greater Western Shockings Mosquito defenders, but not against reasonable( and that's all Brisbane defenders are after all) reasonable defense.

Juice Kicked 4 today at Norwood at key post, and was the best forward today and won them the game!

Never ever given consecutive run when Bailey in charge,

Injured at crucial stages,

24 yrs of age must, mature age recruit must be a better bet than any key forward at Melbourne bar Clarke.

Neeld must be rueing letting him go given scenario as played out.

I say get him back before others redraft based on his form at Norwood.

Not sure why I looked at this post, maybe I was hoping it was a joke and I needed some cheering up after the cruel joke played on me yesterday, silly me thinking I was going to see some sort of a contest!

Sadly I think you are serious. The only way Newton comes back is if it's to help Morton pack his bags!

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
