He won't be around in 2013 will he?

How long can this pain go on!!!!!

we can only speculate but i'd suspect the changes to the list may not be as dratic as others have assumed.

We'll porbably use 3-4 picks in the draft, + upgrade 1 of Nicholson and Magne. 4-6 changes is a fair assumption?

If Green and or Davey retires, Barty is ruled out with his knee, that would leave ~4 detistings?

I would think Bate, Dunn, Petterd, Joel Macdonald etc have used up more chances that JB? Then there is bound to be some speculation about needing all of Jamar, Gawn, spencil and Fitzy too... And weahther or not the club retain Jurrah depending on how the court hearings play out?

Considering we'll have 4 picks before 30 (within 20-24 at the rate we're going) there is a fair chance we'll use 5 or 6 + rookies upgrades.

He was probably fortunate not to have been previously delisted .His disposal never improved and always at best an honest battler .I would have thought that there is little upside in keeping him

Green I would think will retire but Davey has a another year on a fat salary so I don't see him retiring.

But I agree they may not be as many changes as some think.

It is easy to shed players that do not have a contract but it is another thing to find replacements that are better.

We do not have many senior players left, some might survive because they are senior and at least average players

IMO Dunn and Petterd will probably stay particully Dunn He has played very good games in the past

As well he gets a lot of jobs that are not glamorous, has a strong body and plays with agression. Not a lot of those on our list

Bugger :( I agree, a sad thing for Barty & for Us IMO. He is one honest toiler who has a great attitude not unlike Junior.

He has great leadership traits. setting fine examples. No the most skilled but a footballer.

Hate to prematurely talk of a players demise but it really cant be too good an outlook from here on in. Damn bloody shame.

Whilst Brty isnt the most gifted of players hes a tough go at it 100% effort sort of bloke that must have Neeld cursing as this is exactly what Neeld i slooking for.. Players that are assigned a role., understand the role, commit to the role, execute the role and give it all for 4 qtrs. Even if you get an overall 80% effectivenes from a game you know exactly what you have.

This is NOT the case with a handful of current players and it saddens me that an honest trooper is felled way before time.. Its just not bloody fair, not for them especially and not for us either.

bugger .....bugger....bugger

This will create a playing vacancy in the leadership group.

I wonder if this will mean they will elevate someone, I"m thinking here Brent Moloney. Don't know why he wasn't in, in the first place but I think it caused a real issue with the senior players and this creates an opportunity to fix that decision for this fresh second half of the season.

nothing i have seen so far this year indicates to me he deserves it... no thanks.

F'ing knees.

I really really feel for him. Poor guy!

Wish him all the very best, not just for the rest of his career but the rest of his life. Living with crap knees is awful.

I was actually shocked he was still playing.

I was told by people in the know as far back as 2008 that he had no cartilage left in his knee.

Was starting to doubt the truth of what I'd been told, since it didn't seem possible that he could still be playing.

I'd imagine he's played through some serious pain in the last few years.

Talk about kicking a man when he is down and he is a MFC player who try's his butt off for the club you love.

Please dont come say thing's that are stupid why there is a poor guy at home feeling like his world is coming to the end.

Just think how this kid is feeling right now.

As D Hinch said SHAME SHAME SHAME.

Agreed. Poor form

I love Barty and really feel for him. He puts in 100% and plays a role which is severely underestimated. I knew he'd had some knee niggles but had no idea it was this bad. I really hope he can get back next year but it doesn't sound good reading between the lines.

Can cartilage be repaired or replaced synthetically? Has he got any hope of playing for the red & blue again?

Hey LD - there is little medicine offers for a degenerative joint. Cartilage can be harvested and grown in the lab but is only good for repairing relatively small holes. In the future this is where stem cell harvesting will really be beneficial - being able to isolate stem cells from the patients own supply and insert them in to the damaged site. This could eventually make joint replacement surgery (the end stage of degenerative joint disease) a thing of the past.

A relatively new treatment is Interleukin 1 Antagonist injections (performed right at the Demons home - Imaging @Olympic Park). This protein is isolated from the patients blood and acts as an anti-inflammatory and stops the progression of the degenerative disease.

I presume the club is all over this treatment for Clint.

It is certainly possible that with this treatment and correctly managed training loads CB can play again. He won't be in for a long career though - especially with a shrinking interchange bench.

Hope the recovery goes well Barty. Your toughness and hunger will be missed this year.

Moloney.......but surely preferably someone else who has actually contributed this year?

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
