"Don't go to the snow, come see Scully" - Sheedy

I had been waiting for sheedy to start his crap and it didn't take long. None of it bothers me and I want to win every game. GWS are just another team in a crap Jumper.

The Melbourne faithful should give James McDonald a standing ovation. The bloke is a great servant of the club, whether you agree or disagree with him being pushed into retirement, you can't argue he is a champion of our club, and if he had things his way, he would never have left the MFC. If any of our fans are stupid enough to boo him, I will personally tell them to lock it up.

To be honest, I find myself just not giving a sh*t about Tom Scully. I thought I would be watching him, hoping he plays crap, or hoping he gets laid out, but for whatever reason I just don't care.

You would want a victory then....

We've already won on many fronts. There paying through the nose for a B grade player at best which allows us to keep the players we want plus Mitch Clark plus two extra picks in the top 25. Trengove, Clark, Viney & Stringer > daylight > Scully.

GWS look good atm but it wouldn't surprise if the weight of expectation gets to them over the next few years if natural attrition doesn't. Any success they do have will be in a time when Sheedy & probably Scully can't claim any credit for it. By ramping up publicity for the game Sheedy will be dragging a few extra thousand through the gates, lining our clubs coffers for the long term.

Finally, dare I say it - a loss wouldn't be the worst outcome, it could lead to us getting Viney at pick 25, an absolute steal (losses in 2012 don't mean that much to me). That said I expect we'll win & win well.

Everythings coming up Milhouse. Sheeds the wino & GWS are the gift that keeps on giving. Heads we win, tails they lose. The glass is half full, if it seems half empty it's just because we've filled it up with our own wizz & Sheeds has drank the other half & paid $6m for the privelidge.

Theres no rivalry with GWS....just contempt

What a professional coach he is. Nothin like adding more pressure to a struggling player. Scullys gotta love his coach for this

It wouldn't surprise me if when Junior gets the ball for the first time the Melbourne faithful applaud him. I see it a lot in the premier league where great servants go to other clubs and the fans show their appreciation for him.

Scully on the other hand may well get the roughest reception for a 20 year old. Thanks Sheedy, the blood's already starting to simmer for the weekend and it's only Monday!

Like people views.

Do we ?

A). Give Scully a mouthful each time he gets the ball.

B). Say nothing at all.

For mine the jury will be out for a long time on how good a player he will be. He achieved nothing at MFC and has gone downhill from there this year with GWS.

"The match also has long-term ramifications given GWS has promised to bid for Demons father-son candidate Jack Viney should it finish below Melbourne.

It would see the Demons giving up a top-three pick for Viney rather than a mid-20s national draft selection, adding salt to the wound opened when the Giants poached Scully."

When did this happen?

I believe I read something a while back that said the Vic teams were in their ear about making sure we use our first pick. There have been rumblings they will make us pay with the Pick 3.

However, this doesn't mean a deal cannot be made, only that a deal is necessary for us to get Viney in the second round.

And for those that say this is 'draft tampering' - both the bid for a player simply to 'jack' up his price (pardon the pun) and the deal with the expansion teams to not bid - I say the F/S process is circumventing fair drafting in the first place, so I really don't care either way.

Teams are entitled to attempt to mitigate any 'competitive advantage' their competitors may have and we are entitled to agree deals with other consenting partners to attempt to keep that 'competitive advantage.'

"I don't think Melbourne will like to be dancing with us," Sheedy said.

"We've already taken Scully off them - so it's not going to be the loveliest day down at the MCG."

Geez, this a must win game just for the pride of our football club.

Sheeds is a beauty, gotta hand it to him he knows how to spruik. Also no a bad way to legitimise a new club - create a traditional rival. That normaly takes a couple of decades he's done it in 12 months!

yeah real clever - creates a rivalry with the 16th placed club - brilliant

Didn't GWS only have 7000 to their last last home game , and that was mostly Richmond supporters.

Maybe the GWS fans were out at some sort of falafel convention?

Am I the only one who sees humour in the article suggesting ( walls again ) that GWS has turned Voldmort from an inside mid to an outside running wing ? When was scummy ever an in an under type.?? Talk about continual reinvention of truths..

Just want to pay them back by taking a few of their young kids in a year or two. How about a pic of Stynes and $cully on the banner on Sunday with I won't leave on it.

Now that's a good idea!

There are 3 main reason why we have to win.

For neeldy in the way if we lose its another week of melbourne, neeld and player bashing by the media

To actually show we can play good football

Because I dont want scully and his mate sheeds walking off the field grinning

I agree though I hope no one boos James McDonald. We stupidly got rid of him and he didnt leave us and he could have been all bitter and slagged us off but he didnt.

But Id would have loved to see tappscott sit Scully on his arse but I hope Magner can do it. Nothing crude but just a fair hip and shoulder. I think Scully will be building himself up for this. I can just imagaine sheeds talking to the suns this week saying they arent that great and we can easily best them.

This is the game I fear the most. There midfeild is quick and there foward line is strong. I just hope our experience gets us through.

If we lose, we are tanking.

We are not tanking - we will not lose.

Dees by 40 points.

I find it hard to believe Richmond were tanking....

Point is Richmond weren't and they almost lost. And they rate GWS and the way they go about their footy.

If "we" don't come to play, we will be in all sorts.

40 points ? Easier said than done IMO.

come to play??? we'll be coming to bury them I think !!

Yes, it's great isn't it? We can look forward to 2 fixtures against them every year for eternity i.e. Sunday twilght home games. Some will take the shortsighted view that it wll give us 2 wins but it will smash our bottom line. We've had FA home games against Essendon, Geelong or Carlton and now we face the prospect of annual home games against a team with no paying fans.

Let's hope so.

its about this time of year they redo the middle of the ground... in years to come theyll find their remains under it after the AFL wonders whatever happened to their little pet project !!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
