Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jetstar domestic flight and a silvertop taxi to AAMI Park.

You missed a sizeable step before that.

Step 1) Convince him to come? DONE - big bag of money.

Step 3) Transport him here? DONE - Jetstar domestic flight etc

Step 2) Conduct the transfer under AFL rules when his current club doesn't want to let him go? ???

I'll also add that I'm being VERY generous that the big bag of cash in step 1 got the job done. In reality I don't think we'd even make it to the mysterious Step 2, I reckon we'd struggle to stump up enough cash to entice him and stay within the salary cap, because it would take a lot. Players generally don't move for money unless it's an exorbitantly large amount (Scully like), and we won't be in a position to offer that.

This idea is nice from a "sticking it up 'em" point of view, but is severely lacking in the practicality department.

How about we use Pick 4 on Jake Stringer????

and

Pick 13 + a player too try and snare Dayne Beams????

Pick 3 obviously to be used on Jack Viney unless we can get him at 2nd round.

I'm hearing what you're saying but watching the big lad run around in that small five-sixths empty stadium, without much space to lead into, I dunno.

The kid is built for the 'G'. I'd hate playing on that ground if I was him.

Step 2 wasn't an issue for Kev and Gubby. Why should it be for us? Because we're Melbourne and we play fair and by the book?

He is literally the opposite of Jack Watts.

Patton has a massive body but pin head. Watts has a massive head with a skinny body.

Looked good. Cameron looked even better. Patton and Cameron. Wow. No wonder they don't want Cloke.

Okay, say that we have got Patton interested. What are you willing to offer up as a trade?

Silly dream. He won't leave, will see out his next contract, and at that stage a move for Patton is possible.

I say try:

Aaron edwards - foil for clarke, bandaid

Sidebottom, montagna, goddard - $$$ may get them.

Beams at less then those mentioned above

Myles sewell, shane valenti, and yes even Brock Mclean.

Fringe players from the hawks, carlton, WCE, essendon, geelomg

Only spend big bucks to get a walk up star, and I think we could recycle a few more stop gaps like seller.

Clarke so far value for coin.

So 2 proven facts from this year are we (1) need quality ready to go midfielders and (2) we could do with a foild up foward for clarke like a A. Edwards or crameri or even a mcglynn type.

Fingers croseed there is a few goodbyes, more quality kids, And a few more bandaides so kids can develop properly.

Really? Going backwards?

I'm inclined to think we would be better off being realistic and chasing the type of players we need the most.

We have a few young, tall key position prospects in development at the club and while the likes of Tom McDonald, Lucas Cook, Troy Davis and Jai Sheahan might not compare with Cameron and Patton, you never know what could happen given the right development path. These players are additional to those we already have who can fill key defence and key forward positions.

On the other hand, we're dreadful in the midfield, particularly in terms of skilful midfielders who can run, spread and carry. This is the area where I would like to see us concentrate our recruiting resources in the immediate future both in terms of trading and drafting, If we can rebuild our midfield and make it more potent, there will be less pressure on our defence and more good delivery to our forwards. The result will, in my view, be a fairly rapid improvement in the team's fortunes.

Not to mention Valenti.... Sidebottom is the only one off that list worth chasing, could talked around to beams. Goddard won't return enough for what we'd have to pay him

Back to the OP, it won't hurt to thow the proverbial suitcase of cash at him. Indeed we'd be crazy not to double our chances and offer the same to Cameron, who will be every bit as good if not better

How are we going to get him here?

Close the eyes and wiggle the nose ?

That's the 6.4 million dollar question.

Was impressed with both Cameron and Patton today in greasy conditions.

If we are talking priorities, the midfield is 'top of the tree' for priorities for mine.

But if there is any way of planting a seed for down the track as a 'sleeper' approach (for the right moment down the track with picks/player) for any of the two mentioned it gets a green light from me. It would take a great deal of convincing though.

His contract runs out in 2014

We offer hom 5mill for 5 years

We trade with GC for first pick in the ore season draft

He fls to Melbourne and moves in with Watts

It's really not that hard

Get in his manager's ear now.

5 mil for 5 years. Starting 2014.

The ultimate payback.

On the strength of today's effort, Patton will be playing finals come 2014.

It makes my stomach churn to say it, but these kids are going to go a long way in a short time.

A package of Morton, Bennell, Bate and Dunn plus a late second round pick should get the deal done.

Sorry, but you're a dumb ****.

Crap plus crap plus crap plus crap plus speculative pick does not equal a likely A grader. Surely you've been around long enough to know this ? Why do supporters package up fringe players and think that the quantity of shitness will evaluate to one potential star. You could package 10 C graders and it still wouldn't add up.

Yep i absolutely agree. Our midfield is by far our biggest problem, it must be close to the worst in the league at the moment. In fact not close, it is the worst

We need a bit of grunt obviously but perhaps more so we need some speed and players who have great hands and are top shelf kicks of the ball. Like a smaller version of wattsy (who has the best hands in the team and is also the best kick - i know i've said that before, i just can't stop) I know everyone needs that but we won't climb the ladder until we improve in the guts. We have enough big guys

Either of these two would be a coup !

The fact that we probably could not pull it off,

does not mean we should not try and try hard,

I think the move for Mitch has paid huge benefits for both MFC and MC

What ? You want me to assume you're not an idiot and I have to guess when you're joking ? Then I subsequently read that Jeremy Cameron reminds you of Peter Bosustow ?

Computer says no.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
