Round 11 injury list

Clint Bartram (knee) - test

Sam Blease (groin) - test

Michael Evans (back) - 6-8 weeks

James Frawley (foot) - test

Max Gawn (knee) - season

Jordan Gysberts (jaw) - test

Neville Jetta (ankle) - 4-6 weeks

Liam Jurrah (ankle) - 3-5 weeks

Stef Martin (quadriceps) - test

Ricky Petterd (hamstring) - 1 week

James Strauss (leg) - test

Rory Taggert (back) - indefinite

Leigh Williams (virus) - test

Good to see Jetta and Evans off the Indefinite list. Also looks like Gysberts has recovered quicker then expected. However, sad to see Petterd there - he's having a shocking year!

We are doing well this year on injuries, result of Misson?

Does this mean that one of maybe and nicho are unable to play this week as they were elevated for the long term injury?

Which long term injury?

We've got three rookies "nominated" at the moment (Nicholson, Couch and Magner), one under the "every club can nominate one rookie at the start of the year" rule, one under the "every club can nominate one rookie per vacancies on the Vets list" rule (we only have one vet: Green), and one nominated under the LTI of Max Gawn.

Yes, but bad to see Taggert onto it.

Gysberts .. yeah. But the time for Jurrah seems not to be moving.

Last time Jurrah was injured it said 4 weeks but he was really out for 10 months so i wouldn't hold my breath

Happy for Jetta that he's got a time frame on his injury now rather than indefinite, from all reports he was looking the goods pre-season until his latest injury. And for gods sake can Gysberts PLEASE be allowed to get out and play some footy!?

not sure we can say we're doing well, just that we have been lucky that most of the pain has come to fringe and casey players instead of the important players (generally)

I would doubt if Gys would be risked, but I think Casey play next week - our bye, so may be eased back then. I wonder if young Viney will be on a similar time frame or are state U18 games to take precedent.

Does anyone know if their injuries were the same, ie upper vs lower jaw etc??

It would be just great to see the Gys back for the second half of the season. He shouldn't have lost a lot of condition after the first few days. And I guess bloody Wojsinksi is back already !!

Gysberts and Strauss chances for GWS - obviously depending on how we go against the Pies next week (in terms of injuries & changes).

Haven't really had many soft tissue injuries from memory, mostly unavoidable ones (eg. the ankles).

Do we have any doctors or physios on Demonland? If so, is there any evidence that being fitter and stronger will also protect players not just from soft tissue injuries but also from other injuries such as strained ligaments, bulging discs and even broken bones? I have no idea.

Ah perfect i seemed to recall an article saying someone was elevated due to the lti of Jetta, thanks for clarification

With Bartram and Frawley shoo-ins if fit, you'd have to feel for whoever is dropped to make way for them after such a great team effort on the weekend.

The only player who deserves to be dropped from last week is Greengee he looks old and slowI would be up set if any one got replaced by DaveyFrawley and Bartram maybe give them another week to recover fullyAll others need to prove their fitness and DESIRE

I thought Green did some good things on the weekend and continually went in hard at the ball. He didn't have many possessions, but he was on the bottom of a lot of packs, and was working very hard in that last quarter. I think if Bartram and Frawley are fit and Blease pulls up okay it will probably be Macdonald and Morton making way for them. Selection will be very interesting this week, no doubt.

Is the "every club can nominate one rookie after Round 11" rule additional to that? We could maybe nominate Sheahan.

Bloody hell, we've had 1 win for the season and already some supporters are looking at the GWS game as a chance to play fringe players and rest our better players.

I await the flogging.

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
